Has the firestore always been this cheap?

I thought the firestore was $2,000
but then I just clicked on the banner on top of this forum to find the following pricing:

FS-4Pro HD 100GB (7.5-Hour) NTSC $1,895

FS-4Pro HD 80GB (6-Hour) NTSC $1,595

FS-4Pro HD 60GB (4.5-Hour) NTSC $1,295

FS-4 HD 40GB (3-hour) NTSC $799

I was waiting for the cineporter, but with these prices posted on their site,
I may be ready to bite.

Are these the best prices?

The 80 gig looks very nice.

If you shop on Ebay there is a company that is selling it for about $1750 or so.

Also, make sure if you get one that it is updated. I recently rented two of them, one of them worked perfectly - there other was a mess when i imported it into AVID. Firestore created the Audio to be longer than the Video and the clips wouldn't play. I had to import the video signals without the audio, and then later that the audio MXF files and extract them using MXF EXPRESS and relinking the video and audio. Needless to say it was a mess. I would assume that the downloads and updates are easy to do via the firewire plug etc. And for 100 Gig it is about an 1 hour and a half of HD dvc pro MATERIAL - the 7.5 hour i would assume is standard ntsc. Still a much better investment than a 8 gig p2 card which cost almost the same. It is actually very light weight and easy to use. I would recommend it any time. Hope this is helpful.
