Photoshop or Aperture: Which do you like better?

For using with still photography, what program do you like to use? I have Photoshop on my Mac and PC but was reading about Aperture and was curious if anyone uses it. Or is there another program out there that is good to use?

On my laptop I have Bibble, Aperture, Capture NX, & Photoshop.

For general RAW adjustments (curves, WB) I use Capture NX. If I have high ISO images (800+ on my D200 or 1600 on my D50) I use Bibble (I like the integration of Noise Ninja.

For editing the image I use Photoshop beacuse I hate the rest for adjustments other than curves and WB. I don't like the way Photoshop handles RAW so I will work in Photoshop with a JPG.

Aperture... I got it because I was curious but overall... I haven't been overly impressed or blown away by the workflow.

They're complimentary in many ways. PS has all that graphic design utility completely missing in AP, and is indespensible if only for that, however still has much more to offer than aperture as far as image editing. If it had to be one or the other I'd choose PS.

Aperture on the other hand rocks for viewing and manipulating images on a larger scale than PS. (read as not at a pixel level) Features like an advanced keyword interface, adjusting in a non-destructive environment, supposedly superior RAW processing, various layouts, proofsheets, lift and stamp (copying and pasting adjustments from one photo to another) , a nice cropping interface... tons of customization ability for exporting etc.

They both have their distinct places and just happen to overlap on many functions. Like I said if I HAD to choose it would be PS, but thankfully I don't have to. Check out Apple's support forum for Aperture to read any of a gazillion threads asking the same question. It comes up almost daily.

Not a fan of apperture. I have really enjoyed Adobe Lightroom. Check it out for free until the end of February for free (i think). Photoshop and Lightroom for me.

I am using both Aperture and Lightroom.

If I am on set, Aperture wins hands down for "Wow factor" on a client. The loupe tool gets em' every time. Most the time I use Lightroom though because I find it easier to navigate through. The clients I work with, presentation is everything. So if you have to deal with that stuff, then definitely give Ap a shot. Both are good software, it just depends what your use/needs are.

Aperture on a MBP Core2Duo. Damn fine program. I don't like Photoshops RAW editing and that's all I shoot. Honestly, haven't tried lightroom. Started with Aperture and feel real comfortable with it. The program is progressing really well with each update.

I'm slowly making the transition from Photoshop to Aperture. Photoshop is pretty bloated for my purposes, but Aperture is just about perfect.
