Sabi DVD/EPK Reel 2007

I just cut together a reel for potential DVD/EPK clients today. if you don't already know, i own an HD production and post-production boutique that pays the bills by producing and editing content for DVDs. the reel is still a work in progress. needs another pass to tighten it up a bit. not thrilled with some of the shots i have in there, but i'm waiting on footage from our work on Pirates 2, Smokin' Aces and a few others. which should help.

[Sabi Reel 2007]

enjoy!

that looks pretty good. i feel like everyone uses that song for reels, but i guess there's a reason for that. i'm a little confused about some of the footage on there, particularly the excerpts from older films. why is that there?

that's a great gig you've got there. so you do the BTS stuff for these big-budget productions?

i think if i was a potential client, i might want to see something much different. less excerpts from the finished films and more BTS footage. seemed difficult for me to differentiate between BTS and actual excerpts.

thanks, out of about 100 shots, only about 15 or so are from the features. the older stuff (The Longest Day, and Our Man Flint/In Like FLint) are library titles i produced bonus features for.

as for the song, i've never seen it used in a reel. but it was in the Eternal Sunshine trailer. my goal is to give the client a familiar feeling and then to push it just a little bit into new territory. in the DVD/EPK world, no one wants a "filmmaker" producing their BTS. i have to disguise that a bit, believe it or not. they want what they got the last time. it's a struggle to do anything unconventional. incidentally, ESOTSM isn't where I stole the idea to use that song. l'm not going to mention the site, but let's just say it was cut to a montage of busty women.
