Question on 12T to 48P conversion

Hey, I currently have a barrel adapter to convert 12T to 48P, but I kind of wanted to save some weight and make my own adapter with a short cable. If I wanted to do this, is this just a simple solder job where I switch positives and negatives? Does anyone know how the wiring of 12T power works?

no - its not so simple , but it probbly could be done as one of this board maembers from oz did it 2 years ago , dont remeber the name but if he see this massege please response .
by the way it convers 48 to 12t and not the other way

There's a lot more to a P48 to 12T adapter than a little solderring and a reversed polarity. Don't start experimenting with DIY mic power adapters unless you know what you're doing, since you could easily damage your microphone.

Unless you have access to some pretty sophisticated prototyping resources, you're unlikely to be able to come up with a DIY solution that weighs less than a good adapter barrel. Besides, the barrel shouldn't really be that heavy unless you've plugged it directly into the mic up there on the boom, rather than plugging it in-line at your phantom powered mixer/camera's mic input. Even the old rebuilt Sennheiser T-power supply I keep in my kit only weighs a bit more than the 9V that powers it.

Here's a schematic for a battery-opperated T-power supply I ran accross: http://www.new-line.nl/default.asp?i=61

There's a nicely thorough description of T-power partway down the page. Caveat: I haven't tried this design so I can't vouch for it.

Oops, I misread your original post, EJShin: you wrote 12T to 48P, but I read it as 48P to 12T.

Why not just buy the one from PSC? It works, is lightweight and non-obtrusive. And, not that expensive.

I use the PSC adapter to power my 416T. But I find that the adapter introduces a little bit of electrical noise. Has anyone else experienced this?

OK. After lots of testing I'm definitely getting the impression that the PSC 48v to 12T adapter introduces more noise than I'm happy with. I've searched for 12T power supplies but I can't find anything for under about £150 (delivered). So I'm thinking of making my own 12T PSU based on the schematic on the web page linked to by SMuir. Except I'm thinking of using an 11.1volt Lithium Polymer battery instead of using any voltage regulation circuitry to make the circuit easy to build and to keep electrical noise to a minimum. Any tips? Does anyone know if LiPoly batteries have an unacceptable level of "self noise"?
