Anyone with the AT4073a ever tried this

Do you mean a zeppelin in general or that specific zeppelin? I think that is a brand Oleg might be in the process of testing out. I am curious to hear his review too.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply Wabbit! Yeah I meant that particular brand. I've never used a Zeppelin period so I had no frame of reference as to quality of build/sound etc. With all of the great products created by our fellow DVXusers, i'm not as quick to dismiss something because of a low price...but I remain cautious not knowing the vendor.

This might be OK, but until some credible person like Oleg reviews it I'd spend just a little more and get the new K-Tek zepplin. It cost a lot less than the Rycote and comes from a company that is known for extremely high quality products and great service. If the thing you have linked breaks, what would you do?

If a K-Tek product breaks help is just a phone call away and you can even get the owner on the phone and he will solve your problem ASAP.

I'm willing to venture into the unkown, some of my favorite products come from board members (Brevis/Follow focus and gears from Dan D./Plate from Redrock) so the possibility of something breaking does not bother me as much as how does it function. Being that i've never used a zeppelin at all so I have no point of reference. Trust me i'm not being cheap (i just purchased the 4073), but it came up in my Ebay search so i'm curious. That said do you own a K-tek zep, and if so which one...I see they have a new fuzzy one for $225 http://www.equipmentemporium.com/new%20Fuzzy's.htm.

Manfred Klemme (the owner and product designer of K-Tek) showed me his new Zepplin at the DV West Expo last November. The one you mentioned is the one I was shown but the price on that website says it is $339.95. It is really well put together and quality just like all the rest of K-Tek products.

The only difference is that the cage is not solid mesh material like the Rycote is (you can see the pictures of it taken apart). This just means that you have to have the furry on. The Rycote can be used without the fur but in reality the reason you are using it is because you are outside, so if you are outside you want the fur on anyway.

I saw a posting of somebody else here who said that they got one and really like it. Try a search in the audio forum.

if it helps i oun 2 k-teck zeppelins
1 for short shotgun mic and one was specially made for my neuman 82 by Manfred and a few k- teck shock mounts for my short mics
