Employee Of The Month

Hey, this movie wasn't half-bad!

Color me suprised. I thought this was going to be TERRIBLE but I needed a laugh and it was the only comedy I hadn't seen so I rented it. It's a well done movie with a real screenplay, funny off-the-cuff characters, and a... hold your breath for this one... NON-ANNOYING DANE COOK.

I know that's impossible for some to believe but it's true. He actually dials it back. And Dax Sheppard is actually funny in this movie. AND a good actor. Which I never would've predicted.

Now unfortunately any hope of actually enjoying this movie depends on your having absolutely zero expecations for it, and by writing up this review I've ruined that. So just pretend you never read this, go rent the movie, and expect it to be terrible. You just may be suprised.

Dane Cook...

I knew of him a long long time ago, before he was this big deal...
And you really enjoyed it that much?

How was Andy Dick? That may be the only reason (for me) to see the movie.

I just think comedies aren't really well-made these days with studios opting for a bunch of funny situations and then wrapping a storyline around them. It always feels forced. I like it when they make the story the driving force and then see where that takes the comedy. But let's get something clear here. This is not some laugh out loud laugh-fest. It's just a suprising little picture that's made a lot better than you'd expect it to be. Andy Dick is serviceable. But he's never going to be the Andy Dick from Newsradio.
