Hi, I'm making a new buisness card design and was thinking of putting a slogan on it.

So any ideas on a slogan?

Just anything film/creativeness related :)

Personally, I subscribe to the "less is more" or "KISS=keep it simple stupid"
version. List the pertinent information necessary to be solicited for work.

Realistically, nobody cares about a logo or slogan. It's ones experience that
lands the jobs.

As for an idea or slogan, only you can decide what's appropriate for your
business. "Creativity" is something you either have or can acquire with experience.

Good luck.

I agree that you should let your work and talent speak for itself. That said, you're working in creative! Don't be reluctant to market yourself. I'd first ask exactly what core market(s) you serve?

This will direct how you market to new and existing clientele. If you're hoping to push into new areas, you'll want to create collateral geared toward that segment.

We recently looked at our core business and changed our slogan. The "Reality. Documented." tag addresses our two target markets, while simultaneously putting the idea of those services into motion.

What business do you already do, and what direction are you hoping to go?

Just put the name of your produc company on card, that should do it. Instead of
slogan, have a cool logo.

What about a business card that's completely blank? Like the Beatle's white album or Spinal Taps black album. That's pretty creative. lol :)

I agree, keep it simple. Let your work and logo be creative.

How about:

Mynt Films

"Bring your own idea's cause we ain't got none."

or

Mynt Films

"Not exactly a mother lode of original ideas'"

Hudson, did you delete his post!? that'd be hilarious!

or the less funny version, he deleted it himself?

You are looking for the short version of your elevator speech. So, what's your elevator speech? IOW, what do you do?

My advice: Don't use a slogan/tagline unless 1) it's the sweetest set of words to ever flow from your lips and 2) you're going to put a bazillion media dollars behind it to get people to remember it. Every client I've ever had wanted a tagline, and it's mostly pointless. So few people remember a tagline of any kind unless it's been beaten into them via mass marketing. If you're just wanting more of a personal slogan or statement, let your work and the design of the card speak for itself. If you have a card that is well-designed, it'll speak volumes more about your level of professionalism than a few words. And when you're in the creative business, those few words better rock. I've been an ad writer for longer than I want to admit and you know what my card says? J Fox - writer.

Granted my motto of "I'll cut you." tends to turn clients off.

I agree with Charli... if you want to devote time to anything, get a cool logo. Also take time to plan typeface and how you arrange it on the card. And think about how you're going to use it in letterheads and envelopes and website etc etc etc. Check out a book called "LETTERHEAD AND LOGO DESIGN 9", by Christopher Simmons for inspiration.

You have .00000000000001 seconds to make an impression with a card, and you're only going to do it by being visual... which is what you're mostly about in this game anyways.

That said... a good reputation, and word of mouth can't be beat.

I think slogans are unprofessional. Do any of the studios put slogans on their business cards? Any of the major post or VFX houses? Prop or costume rental outfits? Professional organizations? No, no, no, and no.

Leave the slogans to obvious amateurs who need to cutesy-up their cards, since their work won't have the impact to make anyone remember them.
