On the set of "24"

Brandon, so glad you like it. Here is a cool fact what piece of equipment is used for steadicam like shots on both the Office and 24?. On the Office they call it a pooty scooter. A foot Square plywood box with a cushion on top with 4 skatetype wheels on the bottom made by a grip. On 24 It looks like a glorified office stool with 8 legs that can be raised to almost standing and costs $800.00. Pretty much you sit on both and push with your feet around the set with a camera on your shoulder.
They are both used extensively on both of the shows. So keep an eye out and see if you can spot the 'scooter" shots. They actually talk about it in the Office episode at www.2nd-unit.tv . Would be a good D.I.Y. project. along with a couple of others.

Hey scott, the second episode of our 24 parody went pretty well. I ended up doing about half the camera work and some sweet explosion special effects. should be up tomorrow.

By the way Matt you should practice the scooter moves. Both the Office and 24 like to use this look.

I'm having a hard time adjusting to all the XDCAM and SteadiCam logos that litter your content, but the underlying information is great.

BTW, I have a few hundred hours on the 350s (TLC's The Real Deal) and everything you guys are saying about the XDCAM sytem it is absolutely true. It is an amazing and elegant workflow. The "essence mark" feature is, in a word, awesome, just as most of the U/I is done to the benchmark Sony standards.

That said, I'll be more compelled to watch if you can find a way to keep every person on camera from pimping your sponsors to the point of being ridiculous.

You guys crack me up.What can I say it is a show about Sony 350's. Please check out the other episodes. Thanks for promoting our website. The hundreds of e-mails we get thanking us for the information is incredible and gratifying. Our goal is to help teach people the Art of filmmaking. We are at 16000 downloads each week and growing.
Thanks for the support and Matt funny stuff!

Critter-12 you can rent the lens for about 200.00 a day from "Big Vision" rentals in Burbank I belive. thanks for promoting our site. Keep up the good work.

Watched the two sections on The Office - I can really relate to Randall Einhorn's career path. Crazy.

I never had a chance to watch the Dibie interviews - those are next. We used to smoke cigars in his little hideout at WB back in the day. Romeo y Julieta perfectos and a bunch of Panaflex TV rigs... can it get better than that?

overlandfilms, Randall told us some crazy stories. To be honest a little to gruesome to repeat about some of his adventures in Docs. But the airplane salvaging stuff was real cool.
Glad you enjoyed the episodes. Now George Debie is a character or should we call him "Sexy"?
I'm sure he told you the story over a cigar.
