I have, maybe just not in this thread. The tempered enthusiasm is because of the nasty grain pattern that shows up in whites and bright skies. We've talked about it extensively.Malcolm Wright said:Barry, with all due respect and with recognition of how selflessly informative you have been all this time, I feel your posts in this thread is doing me and other adaptor purchasors a disservice. You raved about the letus35 in a way that did not seem very objective, then when you discovered a flaw with it, you did not share what the flaw was. Three weeks have gone by and you haven't told us exactly what is tempering your enthusiasm.
Sorry, I have no interest in blindsiding a manufacturer and giving them a poor reputation, especially when the manufacturer has shown exceptional willingness to fix the product. I have a problem with the product, I took that problem to the person who can fix it. Spraying negative publicity all over the board does nobody any service and potentially kills the market before Quyen has a chance to fix it. Talk about a disservice -- that would be irresponsible. I told people that I was holding off on my recommendation of the Letus prior to getting confirmation from the manufacturer. If the manufacturer had said "too bad, it is what it is" then you can bet I'd show everyone what it does. But the manufacturer instead instantly sent me a replacement unit with a different ground glass to see if it solved the problem. Not only did it solve the problem, it got even better than it was, because instead of losing 1.5 stops of light, it only lost one stop of light. You seem to be wanting to give the letus manufacturer the opportunity to fix the problem before you tell us what it was... that's nice for the manufacturer, and not so nice for us...
The problem has already been shown, people have posted clips.I think this situation is doing the Letus a disservice because it is easy for us to imagine the problem is more serious than it may actually be.
Until the problem is resolved, I would hesitate to recommend that someone buy it. But yes, knowing what it is would allow you to decide whether you can live with it or not, and that's what the posted clips are all about.Without knowing what it is, I can't imagine anyone reading this thread would buy the unit.
