Received my AT4073a

Yesterday I received my AT4073a, ordered at BHPhotovideo. As some of you might remember I was worried that it would cross the FOV of my XH-A1 with a softie attached on a Rode shockmount since I use the mic on-camera. So just to make sure I ordered a Rycote mount & softie clamp with it. Well, this was unnecessary, cause my AT4073a with Rycote softie don't cross the FOV.

Anyway, the microphone does indeed pick up a lot of echo in some indoor locations. When I was filming in the kitchen it was kind of disturbing, but using it in one of our large bedrooms it didn't pick up any echo's and it sounded perfect.
When my dog started licking his privates (lol) and his paws I could hear every little detail. It picked up more sound than my ears do.

Tonight, or this weekend, I'll do some outdoor tests. I just thought I'd let you guys know. Maybe this could be usefull to some.

Bedrooms often have great acoustics due to the giant sound absorber in the middle of the room... also I find that if you stage your scene right in the center of that sound absorber that you can hear details such as those you experienced with your pet.

But in a kitchen? You probably will never get a satisfying sound because the floors are cold and the countertops are less comfortable... er, I mean more reflective.
