Is Digitizing 24PA Footage my Problem?

Hey, I didn't know about the digitizing prob, so I captured at 23.98.

Please tell me if that would cause the problem I'm having...

In the viewer the footage is okay, and on the camera lcd and eye cup the footage looks fine...

But

On the canvas and when I Compress it for dvd recording every 5th frame is interlaced badly. Even though I'm shooting at 24pa.

It almost looks like its blending 2 frames together and interlacing them.

Please help!!!!

It sounds like you didn't to the advanced pulldown when you captured the video and you're running it on a 29.97 timeline.

Check out the sticky at the top of this forum:

You can also use Cinema Tools to reverse telecine your clips, removing the advanced pulldown giving you the correct clips for your 23.98 timeline.

I shot at 24Progressive Advanced
I asked what your Sequence was set for, not what you shot it at. The two are not locked together in any way.

Is the SEQUENCE set to Interlace, or Progressive? Open it in the Timeline window, go to the Sequence menu, go to Sequence Settings, what does it show for Field Domination?

I'll go back to Blaine, did you enable the pulldown feature when you originally captured the footage? In the Timeline window, right click on a clip, go to Item Properties. What is the frame rate (I think it's listed as Vid Rate, NOT compressor)?

Also, you can't view your stuff in the Canvas once it's compressed for DVD. So are you saying before you compress it to MPEG-2 for DVD it shows this, or after? I'm not clear exactly where you see this interlacing.
