Has someone got experience with this FF and a 35mm adapter? I was plannig to buy the redrock one, but read that it has some play on it :( I have got quite a good deal for a used Chrosziel FF (570$), so should I go with it or do you know something even better in the same price range? I know it lacks the hard stops but the most important thing to me in FF is that it has no play.

The used Chrosziel package comes with two ff gears: 0.6 and 0.8 pitch (i quess the 0.8 is the right one to use with SLR lenses). So could I just buy the lens gears from Redrock?

All help would be much appreciated.

I've used this follow focus before, but not with my M2. The Chrosziel follow focus is a million times better than the redrock one. The redrock one is crap, DO NOT BUY THE REDROCK FOLLOW FOCUS. I own the redrock follow focus and everyday wished I had bought something else. Anyway I'm living with it till Hyson Films comes out with theirs, it is supposed to be about the same price as redrock.

WHY ????

I have the redrock follow focus and I can say that it's a very very good product. (It have NOT play in gear and it's precise).

YOU CAN BUY THE REDROCK FOLLOW FOCUS.

All I can say is read reviews and posts and decide for yourself. Good luck.

Thanks. Maybe the Chrosziel would be a better long term investment, it has got the advantage of german craftmanship in these precision devices. I have searched for reviews and found only one :( I have also used the "search" function of the dvxuser, but there seems to be very few people who have used this FF.

Any advice on buying the lens gear for my nikon SLR's. Are the Redrock gears decent?

Get the Chroszeil FF! Thats a great price, and you will not regret it. I've been using that exact model for over 3 years: XL2 then HVX. Both in various configurations including the Redrock adapter, P+S Adapter, and Brevis Adapter. I've shot 6 features and countless other jobs using it and it still delivers slop-free pulls. Chroszeil gear is almost ridiculously expensive, except for when you compare how well it performs and stands up to all except the big boys like Arri's FF.

Hey thanks a million Paul! I've now decided to go with the Chrosziel and will tell my thoughts when I get my hands on it.

Make sure your 15mm rods are long enough to go in front of the 35mm adapter and the lens, and still allow you to add the FF.

Damn, someone bid me out before few seconds of auctions closing time :( I'm so depressed, what now? Can't afford the Chrosziel as new. Is the Indifocus gear better than the Redrock, or even worse? Don't have much options now.

Have you considered the Bebob Foxi? It is electronic rather than mechanical, but it's very smooth with the HVX. Right up your alley at $469. :)

yes the Crosil is probaly Twice as nice as the Red rock but Last time I looked 5 times more expenisve....so REd rock is great if you don't mind the lag...rings that don't pop off... and the ability to flip from the other side easily (it can still be done but the matte box has to come out furthar)...But over all the Red rock is more economical...crozil is nice but $2500...
