Will Formatt Matte Box work with M2 and 35mm lenses?

I'm looking to pick up a Formatt Matte Box and I'm wondering if it will work with my Redrock M2 and Nikon lenses. It looks as if it may only work with internal focus lenses.

Any help would be appreciated ASAP - the seller is waiting on me to decide.

Thanks,
Troy

IT's designed to clamp on to an adapter screwed onto the front of the lens, so you would need:

1) an adapter for the FM500 to put in on your nikon lens (probably 55mm or something like that)

2) you also need to make sure the front element of the lens does not rotate as you focus, because that would rotate the FM500.

And that is my concern - the rotation - I know I can attach it, I'm just wondering how to keep it still while focusing - maybe this is just the wrong matte box for my gear? Anybody have any success with the Formatt and 35mm lenses working in tandem?

Can you suggest an alternative matte box in this price/quality range?

I have the Formatt and have tried using it with my Nikon and Canon lenses using step-down rings, the biggest problem with the lenses I have is they can't handle the weight on the front end and tend to bind-up when trying to pull focus. Still lenses weren't designed to handle clip-on matteboxes so I'd say find the lightest one you can get or spring for a rail based system.

You could always design a support that would let you mount it on rods, or find something online if such a thing exists. You'd have to drill a couple of holes or something in the bottom to do it. I may look into that since I've got a Formatt and an M2.

Plans are in the works... If I can work on it this weekend, I'll post pics on Monday.
