rendering a QT file in Vegas

Hi, I am trying to render a QT7 file and having no luck. I tried a couple of different lenght timelines and for some reason the render will fail after about 60% with errors like "failed to write to a particlular file check your disk space etc". I know i have lots of space so I am not sure.

Is there anything specific i have to do in Vegas to render a QT file.

My other alternative is to render a WMV file but for some reason its creating a 350mb file for a 21 minute clip.

would appreciate any help.

I am using the default template for the QT

Audio: 44,100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
Video: 23.976 fps, 720x480x32, Uncompressed

and for WMV

Audio: 64 Kbps, 44,100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo.
Video: 23.976 fps, 720x480, Quality VBR 90, WMV V9 Compression.

Hi, am no expert but for your wmv file i think that file size is not out of the ordinary. Ive rendered 5 min show reels that touch 250 mb in wmv9. I noticed your QT render settings say UNCOMPRESSED ? hmmm ive never worked with QT as a mastering format but UNCOMRESSED spells trouble when it comes to size. As far as i know uncompressed AVIs are HUGE !!! maybe its the uncompressed setting thats causing a very large file output which cant fit onto your HD. But i maybe wrong. Just wait till David Jimerson chimes in. Youll have a more perfect answer.

Ohhhh, a way to save two key strokes! .mov = QT

efficient... lol, thanks, it was pissing me off not knowing what it was:tongue:

Yeah you're not actually compressing it. You need some sort of compression. There should be a drop down box in the custom section, try compressing it to sorenson.

Qt...

Qt...

If you installed any of the vegas 7 updates (latest is 7d), reinstall quicktime (just download the non-itunes version) and you should get all of the render options for QT (different bitrate profiles and whatnot). Choose the one that works for your needs. Just an FYI - the 3mbps prfile has horrible audio quality by default, so you'll probably want to change the audio encoder to something different (use customize)...
