Okay so what i've heard you can put your self if you've acted or done a part in a film and put your name as cast or crew on imdb. And if you just wanna put one of your movies on. Am I right? If so can someone tell me how I can get hooked up with it. Thanks.

Hey ramsaur,

If you want to put movies on IMDB there's a set of rules and guidelines for submission and they don't just let anything through.

I remember when DVXUser member spidey submitted "CPU" (a film I worked on) to IMDB, it took several months to get on. The general idea is, if your film has been in a/some decent film festivals, been on tv, or something like that, you'll get on. It probably doesn't take so long if the film has been in major film festivals and whatnot. According to the site it takes 2-4 weeks but in some cases, substantially longer.

imdb plays favorites. big hollywood films - in, low budget indies - out. don't waste your time with them, jumping through their hoops, if you don't have A list. i wasted many hours filling out their forms only to get my film rejected. i am still angry about this.

They spell out their requirements rather clearly. If you don't meet their requirements, don't spend the time to fill out their form. If you think your film is uniquely qualified, tell them specifically why.

drpaluga,

It's not REALLY just about budget, there are some pretty low, low budget independent films on IMDB. If your film is actually good and gets accepted to a film festival with a reputation of somesort (doesn't even have to be sundance) then you could get on it. As Barry said, the guidelines are very specific and listed on their form.

There are plenty of other sites where you can list and play your film, IMDB is for those who have had a little bit (or a lot) of success with their film.

Mine got in via Action on Film Festival but could have also made through our distributor.

Well, if you can't prove to them that the title has hit any festival, or at least some third party proof, how are they going to select titles? Just submit the URL with it, and the chance is big they'll enter the title.

This is not good advice. I have a number of both 'A-list' and 'indy' type projects listed on IMDB.

Get on the set of a major movie, a big hollywood movie. Be an extra who shows his face on camera, and you'll get a TY in the credits, and you're on IMDB.

to get your film listed all you need to do is provide the "miscellaneous link" to a third party's web site that "proves" your film is not a fabrication of your imagination. film fest sites, write-ups on trade sites will do. your own offical web site, will not.

I never had a problem getting anything listed once i realized that was a key piece of info for them. although now, i have a contact on the inside who has offered to get my submissions fast-tracked. haven't taken her up on it yet.
