FYI this picture was an inside joke any way... but somehow it seemed perfect...

Damn Timur, you have had a long term relationship with that DVX. Now you're just going to dump it for a younger, HD capable, 4:2:2 color space camera that shakes its P2's at ya. That's cold man.

Throw a lot of rocks, and hit a lot of film students.

Bigger being better, and more being more, you know.

Now where did I put that teeny-tiny violin...?
In the hands of the teeny-tiny violinist on the teeny-tiny recording stage at the back end of the teeny-tiny studio lot...?

Most everything useful I know (to the extent that I know anything useful) I learned after film school, when I moved to Los Angeles and started actually working.

i wish i woulda gone to film school only because iw ould have had the oppertunity t shoot on real film. I have no Film camera experience. I have still camerea Film experince, but not motion picurte.

Oh, yeah. And, maybe make some connections while shooting people on film.

No one ever mentions Video School.

I'd say contacts as well. Only reason I didn't include that which is THE greatest thing to come out of Film School is because I've already made, and am steadily acquiring, great contacts.

Partnerships then moves up the ladder, followed my proof of skill-set.

One thing I'd like to see: a statistic sheet to the percentage of full-time employed graduates versus non-graduate/non-attendee employed industry workers.

Probably going to be the graduates and attendees with the higher percentage.

i did go to college ( film production) ...

next time around - take several writing classes , maybe few acting classes and a few more business type classes ...

It's all about the work baby... if you do good work... it doesn't matter if you have a piece of paper (degree) or not... you'll go far.

Yeah, but studios scout Columbia for new screenwriters. They don't scout my house. The access of a good school is HUGE and cannot be underestimated in my opinion.

Then again, you pay through the nose for it...

You got to it before I did.

Good work is good work, yeah. But, in this industry good work isn't always what gets to the top. Contacts get you up there.

If Good work rose to the top in even most cases, then we would all complain less about Hollywood movies, right?

True, contacts are important... live in LA for awhile, and the contacts will flow

That's true.

It doesn't matter whether you went to film school or not. If you know your stuff then you'll get work. A lot of people think that once you get out of film school you'll instantly get a job. I know a lot of people who never went to film school yet are working in higher places than the people that went to film school. ITS ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU KNOW and how diligent you are to get work.

I thought film school would be a waste of money and my time, so I moved to LA about a year or two out of high school and got work within a month. It all depends how hard you work at it I guess.
