DV rig pro Update? for HVX+M2+Monitor

Hi,

I posted a few weeks ago about the possibility of using the DV Rig Pro with the HVX200 and a Redrock M2 adapter. Most of the responses hinted that this setup would be unbalanced.

Except for this response:

In a matter of weeks, We will have an extra bracket to make the DvRigPro better
balanced for front heavy setups like HVX-200 + M2 + Monitor. Without adding more back weight or making the unit stick back too much.

The "Front Heavy" kit will include a bracket to move the support point forward and an extra spring for the support pod.

Stay tuned.

Just wondering if this update has come out yet?
I really need to buy and I am running out of time.

If I do end up buying a DV rig pro could I just add the updated parts later?

As a side question, what are people using as a shoulder mount right now?
Is the Zacuto the only real option?

Thanks.

Dunno if this will help but apparently there have been two versions of the DVRig Pro. We bought one back in 2004 that I think was one of the very early ones, with a nice heavy weight on the back that could be adjusted. We just bought a newer one (used) from a member of this forum, and it has a MUCH lighter weight.

The older one works perfectly with the HVX and is nicely balanced. The newer one was not at all stable, way too front-end heavy.

So... if you could find an older one before the mods are available, that might be a good solution. I know there were a couple for sale used last I looked.

Why don't you buy a cavision system ?
You need two things :

1/http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?ci=1&sb=ps&pn=1&sq=desc&InitialSearch=yes&O=OrderDetail.jsp&A=search&Q=*&bhs=t&shs=CARS15SP3&image.x=0&image.y=0
2/http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?ci=1&sb=ps&pn=1&sq=desc&InitialSearch=yes&O=OrderDetail.jsp&A=search&Q=*&bhs=t&shs=CARS15HDE+&image.x=0&image.y=0

I have this system on my HVX+M2+RODS+FF+FS100+MARSHALL.
With this combo the camera is perfectly balanced.

I think you are missing the point. with your setup you have to support all that load
with your arms. so there is no balance issue.
The DvRigPro and MultiRig systems use a spring loaded support pod to carry the load, The support point of the pod is what controls the balance.

The whole idea is to ease the load on your arms.

No the weight is perfectly balanced on my shoulder. I don't support the weight with my arms. When I have the time I take somes photos of my rig...
