Rental of prop firearms??

Inexistence

Well-known member
anyone have any experiences that they could share about prop weapons (rentals)?
non-firing blanks, plastic molded fakes? Where did you find them?:dankk2:

I'd like to buy them but having a ton of props in my house collecting dust
after the shoot sounds like no fun to me:( Baltimore cops might get the
wrong idea about me if I'm stopped with 8-10 replica guns returning
from a late night shoot

No ociffer. I have not binge drinkin'.

well, there is a rental house I know of in NYC called Centre Firearms, but that's not going to help you much down there.

Replica Weaponry is funny! Medieval-fest!

I saw a thread on this subject about 2 months ago that also included an interesting discussion about handling muzzle flashes in post. I'd suggest doing a search of the forum.

Mark, did the guns you ordered have those orange plugs in the barrel? If so, Do you have to digital remove the plugs?

the auto has a plug, but I am going to drill it out. the revolvers have real barrels with no plugs. Just got them today.

my friend bought a blank firing gun which had an orange plug in the barrel. i suppose
you could drill it out or just take a screwdriver and push it down into the barrel
which is what he did.

Do you happen to know if when you drill the plug out, whether the pressure will then release from the front of the barrel then rather than the gas release hole on top; secondly is there a risk of anything small ejecting from it?

I'm looking into purchasing a Sig p229 replica. It's got nickel coating. My question has to do with removing the barol plug. What color is the inside of the barol of this model to anyone who has this gun and has done the same thing? And another thing, once the barol plug is removed, is there anything else in the barol? I was reading somewhere that they also install some sort of washer or screw or something like that?
I want the camera to look down a dark barol, not an orange plug or a screw about an inch into the barol.

I drilled out the barrel plug of the PPK replica in KATRINA, and it looked totally real when you looked down it. There was something down there, but so far back, it could not be seen.

Guys!!!!
Just a plea of caution.
If you are going to use blanks or anything similar, never aim them at anyone. Look at the tragedy of Brandon Lee if nothing else.
As far as the police and the orange barrels. If they see anything even close to a gun, you're going to be explaining it form the prone position. No cop I know is going to care if the end of the barrel is orange or any other color.
As far as I am concerned, the airsoft guns with a bit of flat black and some good acting look very real on tape.

Calm down, Brandon Lee was not killed by a prop blank gun, he was killed by a real gun that was misloaded. The prop blank guns that this thread is discussing are on the level with starter pistols. The blank pistols come with a plastic orange piece that plugs the barrel. I bored it out of all my pistols so you can see down the barrel. The barrels are still plugged internally with metal, deep in the barrel.

If you watch the Dramafest entry Semele, I supplied all the firearms for that movie. All pistols (2 Beretta 92Fs and a Walther PPK) were blank props. Although for the indoor shot they did not use a blank. The AK47 is an airsoft weathered to look real.

Regardless of whether the prop is airsoft or a starter pistol, it is illegal to paint the orange black or remove orange markings....unless it is being done for film or theatrical purposes! That's right, read the laws. sometimes they work in our favor :-).

i am trying to shoot a movie and i have no clue how to get the orange plug out of my walther p22 blank gun can some one please tell me specifically how to get the plug out thank you you can post here or email me
