Double The Avatar - M. Night officially insane

nobody back in Hollywood is pressuring him to do anything. his responsibilities lie with his friends at the Blinding Edge ranch.

How do you know this? Do you know him this well???

I meant nothing personal.
I documented the making of 'Lady'. the fruits of that is the "Reflections of" doc on the DVD and HD discs. I've never actually sat down and watched the movie beginning to end. i don't think i'd like it. i know i wouldn't. but seeing how intimately close i was to its making, I can set a few things straight here about what Night's intentions were and what he's like in person, as opposed to the ego-maniac persona he's known for. there's a lot more to him. for example, his absolute dedication to his team at blinding edge. it's like a second family to him. truly. alot of people have criticized my doc for it, but it shows how night fosters a family environment and that's why people who work with him have such praise. when 'Lady' tanked, i spoke with some of the people over there. everyone was going through a bit of post-traumatic stress but soon there would be a new film to focus on.

All jokes aside... can you tell us more about him? What is he like in person? What kinds of things did you learn from him as a director???

I heard he writes while playing Dance Dance Revolution. That's how he comes up with his greatest "twists".

in person? he likes to hug. he's always hugging people. he'd hug paul after they got the shot right, or doyle. he hugged me once.... once.

as a director, i didn't learn anything. he's still learning too i think. he has a hard time trusting his instincts. so everything is meticulously planned. he doesn't shoot any kind of overlap. each shot is composed for its specific rhythms. no coverage. but i think that's obvious watching his films.

i've learned a lot more making my own films.

I only read the first page, so forgive anything that dosnt make sense.
I watch the avatar cartoons and im saddend that M.night is doing the movie.
Its a great cartoon.
Also sad that its being turned into a live action movie.
I think M.night can direct pretty well, but as far as his plot and "twist" go, they're pretentious at the least. I dont like his movies at all.
Blah...

Yeah, I read in that book about him that he likes to hug a lot. He's Mr. Hug. Were you told to document in a certain way? Did M. Night always have to be shot from a low angle so he looked like a king?

Another big topic in that book is how insecure he is. Is that accurate? According to the author, when someone doesn't like one of M. Night's screenplays, he just turns into a big baby. I think he really does feel like the Hollywood outsider.

One of the more interesting things about that book though, was the ending, where he was testing the movie and clearly people weren't into it, and he just thought if he had enought time, he could figure it out in editing.

And I thought about that. Could that movie have been saved in editing? And I don't think it could've. Editing can only do so much.

This reminds me that I haven't watched your special features yet, Zak. Top of my list for tomorrow.

just remember that my original, 45 minute cut was better.

what's wrong with bamburger? I sensed a little post-book regret from Night as he was quoted on the back as saying something to the effect of: "This is the last time I'll ever let someone document me."

Did you meet him (bamburger)? Or are you going on other people's experiences?
