Hi everyone,

We're looking for a company that provides insurance for video production works in South California. Please give us some pointers!

Thank you!

uh...I bought some film from them once. No problem at all, friendly people and customer service.

i used them to insure my last feature. they're very fast in issuing certificates, which is important. i will definitely use thm again.

Thanks everyone! I will give them a call.

In the meantime, are they expensive? Do they provide insurance for a whole year or just on project basics?

their prices are fair. they only insure you for the duration of your production shoot. if you go over, it gets expensive as they charge you by the day to extend the coverage. of course, you have the option of being uninsured for those days.

if i remember right it was in the ballpark of $1500 for a three week shoot. and the extra days were $200 or $300 per day.

mine was 1400 for 3 days but i had extra equipment insured
yeah i should have mentioned I did not have very expensive equipment on the shoot and primarily one location. no stunts, no pyrotechnics. we had 2 HVX200's, 6 8GB P2 cards, 6 Kino DivaLites, c-stands, Panny broadcast monitor. and most everything else was owned or borrowed.

Now Business insurance which covers all of your OWNED equipment is different than Production insurance right? I don't have either one but i need to look into this real soon. So Production insurance to me would seem to cover your current shoot and if anything happened on the set with equipment or actors, etc. you would be covered? I have heard people say that you need insurance if your shooting in public places. Does this just pertaining to shooting inside of a business or dwelling? I mean if I am set up in a park shooting a scene do I need to have it?

i could ony tell you how it is in Los Angeles. Delaware could be a totally different story. if you want concrete answers, i would contact your state film commision.

Do they insure outside of CALI. I have a couple projects coming up in the next two months. If not please let me know if you've heard of any companies on the eastcoast.
