Anyone want to help make a poster design?

Fayettenam?

Sounds like someone spent some time in Fayetteville NC/Fort Bragg!

Only those of us who spent time there, know it by that name. Can't believe someone turned it into a font!

Spidey: pretty cool poster. My only question would be who owns the copyright to the photo. Nice job.

Re: gloves - I'm a member at a Boxing gym here in L.A. and they have worn gloves hanging all over. From modern to older turn of the (previous) century types. With my girl out of town I might not make it in there this week, but I should so I will try. I'll take my cam (8MP, the 1Ds II is at Canon for repair) and grab some still if you are iterested. I'm not promising anything, just saying I'll try.

My suggestion would be to have a shoot and grab a shot like in Spidey's poster and use that. Unless he got the shot from you or has rights that he's willing to transfer.

Thanks guys!

I'm a little behind on time right now but I'll respond to everyone in the next day or so when I free up.

The posters look great and I really dig them all! I put them all on the website! :)

Hey Coff:

One other thing. I'd really try to resist the whole "A Film By Jay Rodriguez/A Jay Rodriguez Film" thing, as an above the title element. I think it just drives the point home that nobody knows who you are (if that's the case) and could give them just another reason to not want to see it. "A film by Blah Blah" is such an ego thing and I think it only works if the director has an established career and people are actually excited to see that Blah Blah has another film coming out.

I think as unknown indies, we need to keep to selling the film to people and not try to sell ourselves - at least not with the poster. I might want to go see a movie about a boxer's struggle, but I dont really care to see whatever it is this "Jay Rodriguez" guy threw together.

Again, just my thoughts. I struggled with this too and I want to see my name above the film just as much as the next guy. But if my film is good, it will come. I think that "A Film By" should be earned, not just thrown in in Photoshop.

You make a good point and I agree with most of it. The only thing I believe is that "A Film By" is earned if you made the film, Photoshop doesn't make the film for you. :)

Coffee..... I missed your reply...

I dont necessarily mean dont include it (I'll get to that) my main point is making that line so big that it looks like you're making it a selling point. Sorry man, but you are a nobody. So am I. I hope we both aren't one day, but right now, we are. As a nobody, we need to know our place.

I am proud of my film, I am proud of myself and it is 98% mine (there was that "screenwriter guy" - and he was great so that is a joke) but my story, my characters - pretty much everything. As such, I am proud to put my name on it and want to so people can see who is responsible. But there are times I've looked at a poster that was loudly touting some aparently pompous director (probably marketing, but it's the director's name I see, not the marketing department's) and I think "Who the F is that, and why does he think I care?" And then that taints me against the movie. I may see it and like it anyway, but my initial response is often negative.

"Eli Roth's Hostel".

What? who?

Oh... Quentin Tarantino presents

Eli Roth's Hostel.

Okay. Might be interesting. But who does this Eli Roth guy think he is?

Just saying that

"A film by David Fincher" holds way more weight than

"A Brian Ramage film" (using a name other than yours so it doesnt seem personal.)

Include it maybe, but dont sing about it or even make it prominant. Yeah you made a film. So has the rest of the universe. That's a fact that I, myself, am coming to grips with. It doesnt make me special that I have/am.

I'll be keeping off of my promotional material. Oh, it was on the first draft. It was also the first revisement.

But that's me. I dont intend to tell others what they can/should do. Just my opinion as it applies to me and possibly others in the same place as me.

if only I can remember to take my camera to the gym. I'm sorry, reset and try again. (I'm next door to the gym right now, but dont have my camera.

How is the designing coming?

I see your point but agree only a tad bit with you. In the poster that img did, yeah the name is too much in your face but with spidey's it's perfectly placed and that is what I'm comfortable with.

I'm a Long Island guy so there will always be a place in my heart for Gerry Cooney. He actually took one of my friends sisters to her senior prom in the years around the time of the Holmes fight and caused quite a stir.
