Look out ImageShack and PhotoBucket!

Been working on a new website and would appreciate some input.

http://www.isarapix.com

It works the exact same as ImageShack, Photobucket, and the hundred other image hosting sites, but with one BIG difference; IsaraPix is non-profit so the more you use it the more you help the less fortunate. I hope that this alternative will spread across the web like a virus. BUT a virus that makes people feel good. :)

Here's a sample:

If you don't use IsaraPix you're a

Test it out and let me know where improvements can be made. Thanks!

Cool. Lethal Weapon. (Mental Note: If you're having a meeting and you notice there's plastic covering the floor, quietly stand up and RUN!!!)

Wow. So does that mean that everytime an image is hosted from your site, it uses up your bandwidth? Do you get money for that?

I know it's non profit, but didn't I read something earlier that said google paid you money for clicks or something?

Edit.

Add .tiff compatibility and i'll use it literally every day.

got it.

EDIT 2:
Maybe make the "IsaraPix" text link back to the page so you don't have to click "back" to get to the upload page.

Wait a minute...what if I upload an image and then later want to link it somewhere again but can't remember the link. Is there anyway to browse the images stored there?

Larry R - Does ImageShack allow that? I don't think it does. But it's a good point. Maybe we can add an "E-mail this link to myself." button.

Zach - Thanks for the suggestion. I will work on a way to host tiffs. Give me a few hours (or days) to figure it out.

Isara doesn't get money from bandwidth, but we do get money from advertisers and/or Google AdSense. Same as every other site. But 100% ofevery penny goes to the projects we make. Everyone at Isara is a volunteer. Nobody makes a dime (or penny). My parents and creditors will vouch for that.

:)

For years websites have been making billions from web traffic and advertisers. Why should for-profits be the only ones to benefit from all those visits, clicks, and money? Why must non-profits always beg for donations when they could create a website that provides a service, sell ads, and use the revenue to fund their projects. That way everyone wins. It's a new way of funding charity projects and we hope more people realize how a minor change in their surfing habits can benefit others. Like when recycling first became popular; It took some adjustments, but once people realized the benefits they had no problems tossing plastics into a seperate container.

I'll let you know once the tiff option is available.

If you know where your image is you can right click and view image. That gives you the address of the pic.

About to add a "Send me the code" e-mail feature. All you do is type in your e-mail address and it sends you the code via e-mail. Still working out a small glitch. That might help people remember their links.

Still can't figure out how to make it handle tiffs. But there's still hope.

Well as long as there's hope.

I said something earlier about making it link back to the upload page.

Like making the "IsaraPix" text an image, and then have it link back to IsaraPix dotcom. I usually upload 2 or more photos at a time, and I just click on the orange frog to bring me back to the home page. This is useful, but just because I'm lazy.

Zach - Actually there's an upload box on the results page. So after you upload your first image you can easily upload another and then another and then another, without having to go back to the first page. Is that better than having to click the orange frog? :)

Yes, yes it is.

I went ahead and made a new Isara banner from the Isara banner on your website. Check it out - animated and everything.

s'gonna be mah banner.

I was thinking about making a whole new topic and saying: New Isara Banner, everyone use it, but then I thought it would be just as good to post it here.

The pictures should go by at the right speed.

Here's a faster one though:

which one's better?

Or should I go somewhere in between the two speeds, like this one:

Edit:
I like the third one the best.

zach - That's so cool. Thanks a lot!! I like the slower speed. Easier on the eyes. Maybe we have one that doesn't animate as an option for people. Oh, and using an Isara banner in your sig is allowed under the Sig Guidelines since Isara is DVXuser's official charity. :)

I made a few banners a while back if you want to take a look.

Big difference from photobucket!

:) :)

it's a cool idea, but you may want to reconsider the name of the website. unfortunately, "isarapix" sounds close to "is a rapist". and no one would want to contribute to that website...
