Is it legal to use popular names from Movies or TV in a indy movie script i.e. Blade, Buffy, the A-Team. Are these names Trademarked and if so still able to be used to parody or make fun of someone in a movie script?

For example:
"Then you stepped in and went all Blade on them?"

Trademark law is relatively simple.

Don't confuse the audience (make them think it's a sequel to Blade), show the trademarked thing in a bad light (can't think of a workable example in this scenario), or dilute the trademark (have the world start thinking of Blade as a fat nerdy guy with glasses and zits).

On the other hand, anyone can try suing anyone for anything.

They most likely wouldn't win, but...pain in the butt.

But they most likely woulnd't try, either.

You're safe, if that's all you're doing.
