Redrock M2 or Cinvate Brevis or P+S Technik 35???

I've heard a lot about these different tools for getting that ideal shallow depth of focus, but which one is your favorite and why???

What about the SGPro???

Can anyone briefly outline the pros and cons of each?

I am a documentary film maker and I own a Panasonic HVX200. I'm planning on buying one of these devices, but not sure which one to choose.

I also have a Canon EOS 20D camera and a beautiful 55mm 1.4 lens.
Would love to use that lens with my HVX 200.

Would very much appreciate some advice, thank you very much.

Is there actually any reason anymore to use a P+S Technik? It seems like the RedRock and all of these cheaper competitors do the exact same thing and for thousands less.

Here's how I lent up deciding on the Brevis35 (about 2-3 weeks away from receiving it).

* Light loss is minimal (i've read it actually GAINS half a stop). My second choice would have been the M2 but it apparently chews light. (i'm doing horrors so this will help me).

* Quick setup. The brevis screws straight onto the hvx lens via a step down ring. So if your using prime lenses you don't even have to rail mount it! Keep in mind if you're doing docos this would be worth the price of admission alone.

* The brevis has interchangeable lense mounts, so Canon EOS, Canon FD, minolta, nikon, pentax, (and i think 16mm movie cam lenses) are supported.

* Also to note, the new brevis's being shipped are a quieter model than previous (just incase you read about it being noisy in old forums).

Check the brevis on the Cinevate site.

Hi Ian,

Thank you very much for your help. I was actually seriously leaning towards the Brevis after I read how the M2 loses light and the Brevis doesn't. Someone did some side by side comparisons on this forum posting footage regarding those two.

I think I will go with the Brevis. The only other one I had heard of was a British device called the SGpro. Not sure about it, don't know enough, but I think I will go with the Brevis. Thanks again,

- Nicholas
