i got a lipstick camera and i need a small minidv unit to plug it into, i've been using the sony vx2000 but its so friggin bulky, anyway. I cant seem to find any small cameras that take Video In sygnals. WTF????

i've found bunch of small units with the black video in plug but i think the ones with the yello are the ones i'm looking for, can someone confirm that.

thanks

my old old old canon ultura takes in through the out jack as David said, mini phono type plug with three rings to 3 rca type plugs ... but you have to use the remote to tell it to take video in I think - or at least have it set right in the menu settings.

most small Sony handycams record composite video from analog and digital sources via RCA outputs, plus they are the only small consumer cameras that offer a LANC port for remote control (great if your sticking it to the outside of your car when driving or using it on a jib). That's why I got one to use as both a party/stunt cam and to didgitize old VHS footage.

ok well..i got a jvc minidv gr-d370u camera for xmas, but it doesnt seem to want to force the bulletcam through, the camera does not have a remote control and i'm not a noob but i cant get it to work. So unless i'm missing somthing, ther eisnt much in the menu but it does have a video plug not the RCA, but the black video plug. And the cam has 3 knobs Rec, off, Play. No video. I think this model just doesnt support it.

Almost no consumer cams have RCA in/out jacks built into them--instead, they use a "breakout" cable, which has the familiar yellow/white/red RCA plugs on one end, and a 1/8" plug (similar to a headphone plug) on the other. That 1/8" end plugs into the camera to give you your video output. It used to be that, in many cases (and this is true on my old JVC consumer cam), there was a setting in the camera's menu that switches this system from an output to an input. This appears to be slowly disappearing...

JVC's website is being screwy this morning--when I asked for the D370 manual, it gave me a manual for a D396 instead. That doesn't seem to have any provision for changing that output to an input, so if your D370 is a similar camera, you may be out of luck...

A quick search turned up that the Canon Elura 100 has an input function, as does their ZR700 (though the other current ZR models, the 600 and 500 seem not to); no Panasonic consumer cams at all seem to have it (which is suddenly casting doubt on my recent decision to buy one of those  ). Maybe it's not disappearing so slowly as I first thought...

I use a JVC GR-D372U, which looks like it's basically interchangeable with your D370U...like the Captain sez, the setup is a three-into-one cable with a 1/8" phone jack on one end and video/left audio/right audio RCA connectors on the other (plus a 1394 connector under the flip-out viewfinder).

Alas the camera can only accept a signal in through the 1394 jack. The RCAs are output-only.

You might find something suitable for the purpose, here -
