Dont know about the portabrace but i use the Pelican 1510. Its a perfect fit for the hvx a shot gun mic external usb2go hd 2 batterys and charger. I brought it as carryon on the plane with no problems. It makes for a nice chair while waiting connecting flights...
It sturdy....the wheels are smooth and they look like they will last long. As for guerilla style your better off with a backpack....depends if your guerilla is only on paved roads....The case is a bit heavy.
If you get one.make sure to buy the one with the foam....they sell it with out foam too. The foam you need to sculpt it your self.mine had 2 layers. I used only one and kept the other in case i get new gadgets and need to reconfigure.
Its waterproof and with a good silicon gel pack would be good for long term storage.
Im really happy with mine.
i´ve the portabrace 2650f and its really nice. room enought for all the stuff from the hvx+firestore+2filter ... and room left. and it came with a smaller one where my lenses will take place soon
Got a Pelican 1510. Took it to the Madagascar rainforests for two weeks in July.
Nothing but muddy mountains and constant rain. Kept some silica in it because of the extreme humidity. Nothing stays dry in Mada. Except for my camera.
The 1510 is perfect for airtravel and perfect for crazy adventures...
I have a Pelican 1510 each for my HVX's. They are nice cases. I don't try to cram a bunch of stuff in there like some folks. I like the padding around my investment.
I just have the camera, 4 batteries, 2 p2 cards, and a remote. A little extra room for some nick nacks if I want.
If you want the smallest case for the HVX that is sturdy, and very protective, I would recommend the 1510. If size (or carry on legality), or if you plan on putting a bunch of stuff in there... I would personally recommend something larger.
