Zacuto Zgrips or DV Rig Pro for HVX + M2?

Hi,

My current camera configuration is a HVX with the Redrock M2 adapter and Follow Focus, with a noga arm connected to the Redrock rails supporting a Marshall 7'' HD monitor w/ V-mount Battery.

This system is very hard to operate because it is off balance and heavy. So I am looking into getting a shoulder mount for it but am a bit confused on a few details.

Firstly since I have the Redrock rails that support the M2 adapter and FF how would I attach a DV Rig Pro to the rails and would that mount even support all the weight? I think I read that the DV Rig Pro supports up to 7 pounds and my current camera weights about 12 or 13 pounds!!

(Here is a photo I have found of a similar HVX setup on a DV Rig Pro.) How would this handle?

Then I noticed that the Zacuto Zgrips mount to rails and thought that maybe that was a better approach, but I would be mounting them to the Redrock rails and not the Zacuto rails.

This setup looks painful on the shoulder? (where is the padding!)

(Here is a photo of the Zacuto system) Do I have to buy their rails?

Are there any other shoulder mounts or alternative grips that would help me tame this beast of a camera?

Any insight would be great! :)

I cant speak for which is better, I dont have the grips. Rails are rails as long as they are 15mm :)

But I will say that Balance wise the Zacuto looks eaiser to balance.

Keep the CinePorter in mind...

Sorry, I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum!

I tried to delete the post but couldn't find the option. If an admin could remove this thread that would be great!

It's been reposted in the HVX Hardware section.

Keep in mind the DV Rig Pro comes with some sort of belt that has a spring loaded rod to support some of the weight.

Also the shoulder mount has some padding.

I had read in another post that someone had returned or sold their DV Rig Pro because it was dissapointing. Just don't want to make that mistake. But right now I am leaning towards it because of cost and comfort?

In a meter of weeks, We will have an extra bracket to make the DvRigPro better
balanced for front heavy setups like DVX-200 + M2 + Monitor. Without adding more back weight or making the unit stick back too much.

The "Front Heavy" kit will include a bracket to move the support point forward and an extra spring for the support pod.

Stay tuned.
