Just looking to buy a 35mm adapter to acheive a better film look. Want more shallow depth of field. Ive noticed a few adapters out there. Ifocus, letus, redrock. Looking for one that is affordable and good. I hear there is some light loss. Just want to know if anyone can give me some suggestions which one to purchase and where can i get them. Thanks.

There's lots of light loss. I'm really liking my Letus35 Flip Enhanced; it's half the cost of the Redrock and Brevis and it does the flip for you so it's sooooo much less hassle. But it loses 1.5 stops of light.

the ifocus HQ is a great great buy.

it is simple, static adapter, low cost that comes with a 35mm lens of your choice...

talk to twiock.

Hi Barry, I know that Latus FL is great in terms of Setup, Flipped image and cost but if you just compare the light loss is M2 the best in terms of light loss?

Barry:

Just to clarify: are you saying that there is a lot of light loss in general with 35mm adapters, or is that particular to the Letus35 Flip Enhanced? If it is a general phenomena, is there a comparison between the competing models somewhere that you are aware of?

I don't know how the others compare in light loss, and I would only know for sure if I tested them side by side. Everyone calibrates these adapters differently, I'd want to test 'em side by side.

All adapters lose light. There's a comparison from rgdfilms between the Brevis and M2, and the M2 is much darker in comparison. But were they calibrated appropriately? I don't know.

If someone wants to rent me an M2 or Brevis or something I'll put it through its paces next to the Letus. So far I'm getting image quality comparable to the mini35, with light loss comparable to the mini35 or even better than the mini35, at a total price of $700 (including shipping). I seriously can't think of how someone can beat that. But, then again, I haven't finished my testing and I still have a few things to try that may or may not reveal an "achilles heel" that might change my opinion.

OK, thanks.

In another thread, you mentioned perhaps doing a more comprehensive review of the Letus35FE, with screen grabs, etc. I'm looking forward to it.
