vacation fell through - any suggestions

My fiance and I were supposed to go on a one-week trip to Las Vegas the 1st week of the new year but due to my horrible planning the trip fell through. Now I'm totally screwed: It's taken months to get time off at the same time and we only have this one week. What do I do now?

Anyone have any ideas for a trip somewhere in the states that's both exciting and not too expensive? I really need to fix this 'cause staing home just isn't a holiday.

Dude, vegas sucks. If you want a vegas experience then just throw away your money, watch the lamest show you can find and then bombard yourself with flyers for hookers.

There ya go. That's vegas.

Do youself a favor, get a car and actually try to get lost. Yeah, lost. It ain't as easy as you think but adventure finds the brave at heart. You'll have fun, trust me.

And if your fiance doesn't like that plan, then dump her. She's obviously all wrong for you.

Go to Tahoe, on the California side. It's near close to Reno if you want to do the whole gambling scene- and it's absolutely gorgeous.

Get a hotel room with an outdoor jacuzzi, and hang out in it while it snows- awesome experience.

what he said! hahaahahahahahahaha!......................ha!

Hmm, that's a tough one. The only place I know of in USA that lives up to the hype is Waikiki.:love4: But, not exactly a cheap trip.

I'd go with what rook said, take a road trip. Maybe head toward Yellowstone Park. Good luck.

Haven't seen you around for awhile, Kimko...

Sedona, Arizona. Red rock country!

Just beautiful. Plenty of outdoor adventures. Great food. And spas. :)

Ride the gondola up the mountain to the old Olympics site. They've got a pool and hot tub in the snow! Really nice . . .

Come down to Santa Cruz, stay at the hotel I work at: www.terracecourt.com
I'll offer you $50 a night (no one gets this rate) of course depending on
availability, you can have an ocean view room. We are 40 minutes
from Monterrey and 50 minutes from Carmel. SFrancisco is 1 1/2 hours away.

Los Gatos is 40 minutes away (nice little town) and San Jose is 45 minutes,
great shopping.

Rent a car and go where you want to. We have kitchens in the room so you
can cook most of your stay and save a bundle.
Pm if you are interested.

here are some ideas..
-campout. pick a random stranger and set up a campsite on their front lawn.

-walmart survivor. begin by taking away everyone's money and see who can last the longest in walmart. game ends when the next to last person leaves or brother and sister decide to get married. (although frowned upon in many parts of the country, this sort of thing is acceptable to most walmart shoppers.)

-zoo escape. head down to the closest zoo and see who can either get in the cages with the most animals or set the most free.

Oh man, you're really speaking my language- I grew up in Sunnyvale/ Santa Clara. I love that area and Santa Cruz is awesome. So many trecks over 17 for late night campfires.

we're really just looking to get away and relax as much as possible... just lounge around, sleep in, dine out and take some nice pictures. maybe even a spa treatment or something like that...

I ended up getting some Vegas tix after all - a friend knows a friend who works at a travel agency. hopefully it's better than what you guys say. if not, we'll be going somewhere else next year.

thanks anyway.
