Can't change speed/duration w/ transitions?

Can you not change the speed/duration of a clip after you add transitions?

I removed the transitions and still couldn't make changes...

Any advice?

Not sure why this isn't working for you, it definitely can be done because I just did it. I just right click on the video clip and changed the speed to 50%. The transition comes in early because the clip keeps the same duration. If you were to speed the clip up it would lose the end transition because it would now be shorter. As far as clip duration, experiment with the ripple and rolling edit tools. I gotta' go to work. I'll check back later.

Just an idea. Sometimes Premiere Pro does get temperamental. What about if you were to copy the project file, rename it and then see if things are any better if you open that ?

I tried it again...

I tried it again...

I tried again and it worked. Seriously when I couldn't get it to work I tried everything and now it works. Maybe a fluke? I dunno. I know it won't do it when multiple clips are selected, but I may nave made that mistake when I couldn't get it to work. Thanks for the help guys! I can always count on your great wisdom!

i had a similier problem, i couldn't get premier to apply a fade between two bits of footage for some reason it just wouldn't fade these to bits together, every other bit of footage was apparently fine just these two were apparently incompatible.

weird

Did you have enough handles to allow you to apply a transition? If not, you could grab and extend your clips to make them a bit longer, at the location of the intended applied fade, to accommodate the needed frames to apply the effect. Hope this helps.
