Bag for SD 302 plus 702T

I'm looking for an audio bag that would be big enough to carry a Sound Devices 302 Mixer and 702T recorder plus a couple of spare batteries, CF-Cards and a Sennheiser HD25 headphone. What would you suggest?

Look at the Petrol bags. No other options. Get the heavy duty harness too. You won't be disappointed.

I already have the petrol PSDMB-302 bag for the 302 alone and like it a lot. It can also carry the 702T but not both. So I also need something bigger and I guess one of the petrol eargonizers would do. But which size? I have no dealer nearby where I could try it out. :(

petrol eargonizer n-1 is good enough for you , it leave you enough space put your other stuff and wireless rigs in the future.

Hey Oleg, if you get a chance to talk to the good folks at Petrol again, ask them to put a label in their bags with the model number - I was trying to answer this person's question but could not find the model number of the bag I have (and I can't possibly remember which one I ordered now... ;-)

Happy Hannukah!

Phil

Trust me your bag can make it fit. Just stretch it.

The link doesn't work. Takes me to a login screen.

I know that the 302-bag can hold both the 302 and the 702t. That's the first thing I tried. But it's a pain in the butt if you then want to reach the knobs on the side of the 702t. That's why I don't like this solution.

what looks nice on the picture( the link does work you need sign be a member of that group ), doesnt really work in real life , this one was design ( by me and the petrol designer)without any intend to place the 744 inside , it can sit there but doesnt mean you will have comfort to work with that setup .
the eargonizer 1 id the best to have for these 2 and extra equip you will need for your shooting day

I received my eargonizer 1 today and - wow! - it has a lot of options. I wish it would have come with a manual! :)

Now I have a practical question: I'm trying to build my system in that bag. I'd like to have the mixer in the ("upper") compartment that is further away from the body so that I can ride levels easier and have the led-chain in sight. And then the 702t in the compartment that is closer to the body.

But with the 302 in that upper compartment with straight neutrik xlr-plugs on each side it gets a bit tight and the cables get bent more than I would like.

How could I solve that?

Congrats
you will find mixer close to your body working much better if you intend primary use its faders and preamps , what also keep you from accidentally change the recorder preamp gain
you will have more space for your cables and much easier way to change configuration .
the mistake with upper space was made 5 years ago when the eargonizer 2 came to the world and was made especially for my needs , then the upper space was used for the hhb tc dat i had and all my connectors where right angles , so as you know it was never inted became world wide best seller and get negative replies :-)
the eargonizer 1 has the same with ,so the small problem you have is the same genetic ofset .

Very interesting! I'll also try with connectors with right angles for the 702t inputs (NC3MRX). Then I could shove it to the far left and gain some extra space on the right in the upper compartment.

Now I have the mixer in the lower compartment and probably will get used to it. The only problem I see is that the LED-chain is not so directly in my view as it would be if the mixer was in the upper compartment. And especially when I'm wearing a wide sweater it can sometimes be hidden by the cloth. (Never thought that setting up a bag could be a science of it's own ...)

How do you manage to keep your gear from falling out of the bag when the bag accidentally gets upside down? Do you put the velcro-stickers on your recorders and mixers to hold them in the bag?

Yeah, the eargonizer 1 is a great bag. In fact, ALL the Petrol bags are fantastic. Amoungst all the gear bag manufacturers out there, I like Petrol the best. They have really thought out their designs well. Also, they take customer and dealer feedback and actually implement those ideas. When I was at Coffey Sound, the local rep and a manufacturers rep came by the shop and showed us the PEGZ-2. There were a couple of design changes we recommended, and they implented them. They are the first bag manufacturer that I've given ideas to that actually took those ideas and worked with them. When I worked at Coffey Sound, and sold these bags, my customers were always very happy with them.

velcro is good , also place aditional internal wall inside which press every peace of equip ( you see if you was answering my pm you were getting another few and spare pillows:-)
if you use the 702 you can alwais looks the meters there .
by the way ,how do you power the wall thing ?

Thanks for hinting me to your pm. Without your hint I would probably never have noticed that I got one...

What do you mean by powering the wall thing? If you mean the 302 and 702t: the 302 gives me 11 hours running time with 2700 mAh rechargable NiMH batteries. And for the 702t I bought some additional rechargable Li batteries on ebay.

By the way, or better not by the way: I wan't to thank you (Oleg) and Phil, MattinSTL, and Dave, and many others for the great advice, you're giving on this board!!! That saved me from a lot of false buys.

I now ended up with an MKH50 with softie on an Ambient QP480 boom (thank you, Oleg, for pointing me to Ambient - very nice and helpful people!), 302 mixer and 702t recorder in the eargonizer bag. A very nice, portable and versatile system. I also have my good old TLM103 stereo set that I use for music recording. And with a little luck, there will be enough money to buy a CS-3 and blimp kit next year.

if so you have enouth space for cigarettes in the battery chamber or mid day snack :-)
buy the way pm was sent:-)

Let's not forget that I don't have any wireless stuff. So I also have the extra outside pouches to store all kinds of snacks. :)
