oktava mk012 outdoors... at all?

okay cool, yesterday i called and he mentioned the windjammer and bbg for around $250?? is that correct ballpark figure? for some reason i thought it would be cheaper than that.

When I got mine, the BBG was $130 and the windjammer was $70, so that sounds a little high (unless there's been a sizeable price increase).

my suggestion is to write Manfred and ask him nicely to produce one k-tek softy for the oktava length , there is a good chance you will get reply , product and the community will get another k-tek product which would be suitable in price for dv community ,
the other option is get k-teck complete zeppelin and by extension barrel .
at least when you will buy another shotgun mic you wouldn't have to buy another zep

Does that mean that you actually use a large zeppelin that is meant for a shotgun (like the Rycote Kit 4) for a much smaller microfone like the Octava or (in my case) the MKH50?

lets say i will never recommend to use it with robbing barons products :-)
but yes you can use it with external barrel to increase the length - i dont see any point loose 20 cm for nothing , especially with octava or mkh-50 which have quit a low output
as my friend Eric T says - what is the problem ,they can talk loader and i reply why should they talk at all :-)

called Trew Audio again and talked to a different sales person and he gave me the same price as HorseFilms mentioned above ($130 for BBG and $70 for windjammer).

man that was a hard pill to swallow.....but after testing the oktava with just the thick windscreen foam there is no way i can do my exterior dialogue scene. i had no idea how much little to moderate gusting winds picked up in the audio. we kept having to start and stop everytime the wind picked up.

oh well...investment well spent.
