Round 14 - DVXUser Photography Contest - 12.06.06

missed this one, hopefully get back in on the next one. Planning a photoshow for next week so quite busy.

Photos are lookin' good, im gonna go vote.

Congratulations to the winners.

I'm not sure why this contest is dying out, but it seems to be. I have commented on every film in every contest and still only got 2 comments on my last photo. It makes it hard to learn and get better (which is the main reason I am doing these) if people don't share their thoughts.

Congrats to the winners! Some amazing shots there.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It's a shame as these are really fun and educational. It also seems to be the same handful of us participating each contest. :(

Since there were some questions regarding my entry, here it is:

I think all of you were too kind to this photo. The framing I like, but nothing else. Also it was a stretch for being a landscape, but thanks for accepting it anyway. :)

It was taken with a Digital Rebel (300D) and the grain and general poor quality were intentional attempts. In the end I feel that it just doesn't work in any fashion ... except maybe geometrically. :)

Now on to Round 15.

Here are my before and afters...

Doesn't sound like the red sky went over too well, but I wasn't thrilled with the picture until I started adding more red into the barn, which I guess led to keep adding it everywhere! The thing I like about this image is that the horizon line makes the image seem tilted until you look at the barn and realize it's actually a level shot.

The day after I uploaded this I looked at it again and wondered what on earth I was thinking. I still wonder that. I became so obsessed with getting detail out of the sky in post that I kind of lost sight of the overall image. I had much better shots from this particular session. Oh well.

This one had the least post work done on it. The sky was amazing when I was at this church so I snapped a few shots as wide as I possibly could.

Chris

It's winter time, its holiday time, people are probably just busy right now.

Just getting back to town after being in FL for a while... I'll get everything updated tomorrow when I am not skittish from the plane still.

Oh hey, check that out. I won the gold! Out of only 9 entries, but hey. Thanks guys. Some of you guys live in some beautiful places. It's nice to see skies full of dramatic clouds and snow!

Sorry for not updating with winners but now I'm down with the flu (I think I got it on the plane)

Regarding the contests losing momentum... it's that time of year, it happens.... We'll continue
