arrilite or arri fresnel

hi I have to buy one just one light for a small commercial im doing this christmas
after reading all this posts i decided to go arri.
im in two minds arri fresnel 650 or arrilite 1000?
I already own some 300w lights

what do you recommend me ?
 
Go for the fresnel. If you really need a more direct, wider spread mean in specific cases, you can remove the fresnel lens. If you get the open face on the other hand, there's no chance at putting a fresnel in.

how different is the arri 650 beam from the arrilite 1000 when the fresnel lens is removed?
 
I wouldn't recommend removing the lens.
To answer your question as asked, the reflector "dish/bowl" is smaller on the fresnel. If you just want raw power, the 1k will give it to you, but the fresnel, not only by construction, is a much better light.
 
Just curious, why wouldn't you recomend removing the lens? Clearly having a standard open face is better, but on a super small budget where you have no other options, if you take the time to carefully remove the lens and put it in a safe place, I see little reason not to? The only thing I can think of is the lack of a metal screen- like on the newer arrilites, which protect against an exploding bulb.
