You're thinking too hard.
Use P2 Select, and point it to the root of the P2 media. Don't point it in the CONTENTS folders, don't point it anywhere in there.
Just point it to the folder above the CONTENTS folder.
That way it'll "see" everything it needs to, and it'll automatically grab all the parts of the clip - both video and audio.

Playback stopped means that for whatever reason, the video could not be processed in realtime.
Usually this means:
a) You're doing too much filter/effect-wise (CPU bottleneck)
b) The data can't be retrieved from the storage fast enough (disk subsystem bottleneck)
c) Some other process is eating CPU time and/or RAM (or you simply don't have enough RAM)
If you're not using filters/effects, then it's usually b.
