Looking for good headphones, any advice?

I have the AKG K240s and am extrememly pleased with the sound quality and comfort...

good reviews as well.

There were some long discussions of this a month or so back... my suggestion is for the Remote Audio HN7506, which provide the best combination of isolation and sound you can get. If you don't need the high isolation (though I think you certainly will at some point), the Sony 7506's are a great lower-priced alternative.

I have two pairs of these -- one for other people on set and one just for me. Love them.
That's how I roll too.

Love the HD280s.

i dig the sennheisers too. they are relatively flat, giving a you a fairly true reproduction of what's there. i know some budget-minded operations that use them to do their final stereo mixes with.

Grados are nice but they're all open designs - no isolation! I'd recommend them for post, but not if you'll be near a sound source that you're trying to mic!

I have HD-280's, they are great for location recording, they have excellent noise cancellation. I have found that they get a little bit heavy and uncomfortable at times, but after you break them in a bit it's not so bad. Another good choice on the cheap (like 20 bucks) is the sennheiser HD-437's, super light, durable, comfy, and they sound excellent.

I just went thru this and decided on the 7506's -- just got them a few days ago and they're great!
