Best Superhero Movie

Personally I cannot stand Unbreakable, I'm suprised it is as highly rated here as that. Alot of M. Knight Shimylahan's (Sp?) stuff is so formulaic it puts the entire super hero formula to shame, it's a "can you guess what the twist is yet" kind of thing and shows a great lack of originality in story telling.

Personally I think Tim Burton's batman was excellent and lessened by the pitiful sequels that followed. It is still a very watchable movie by todays standards even though it was shot nearly 20 years ago.

Whilst Batman Begins was ok it lacked the elements that make you believe the character is infact a superhero, he was merely a man with alot of money and a necessity to scare people. The original Batman had more darkness to the character than merely wanting to "clean up Gotham" along with a superb villain in the form of Jack Nicholson as the Joker (how Heath Ledger can live up to his performance is beyond me) and an excellent and memorable music score. Batman Begins suffers from the modern day film making premise of making things gritty and realistic, all well and good but the fact remains that the subject matter is rather too obscure to fit this remit.

The original Superman series were fairly boring, even recalling watching them as a child. Special FX compared to the likes of Starwars being made at the same time were rubbish in comparison, one of the things I never understood was why not just train christopher Reeves as a professional skydiver and then film actual footage of him flying(falling with style) rather than use green screen footage which even in the day was visibly poor. Stick a parachute beneath the cape, lose the cape midflight and parachute down. Even use a stuntman for some far off footage or close up behind, if pushing CR out of a plane was too out of the question.

The Spiderman films were merely OK but offered little in the way of innovation or new storytelling - Something at least Batman Begins attempted to remedy. The greatest problem faced with many of these stories is that they have to be rigid to the comic books they stem from, and in truth never can. Therefore they suffer at the hands of the scriptwriter, director and editor and skip, miss or lack aspects key to their storytelling in the eyes of the fans of the comics.

The Incredibles was a great satire. Also Condor man was pretty awesome, hehe :)

It was a huge tripod mounted Vulcan machinegun... he wasn't going to be throwing that puppy, but yes, Supes calmly walked into the blazing lead hail.

Blazing depleted uranium hail!

The best part of that scene- Dumbass bad guy empties this Vulcan gun on Supes, then pulls a 9mm out and shoots "The Man of Steel" with it. And I swear Superman had that Duh huh look on his face as the bad guy was doing it!

why was their a rail gun on a roof a bank suspended by a crane arm anyway?

I'm not sure if it qualifies as a "Super" hero, but the original "Crow" with Brandon Lee is my fav dark hero movie. . . . Spidey is a close second, and I am really looking forward to the next one. . . I like my movies dark and moody. The soundtrack in The Crow was also way above the norm, and you can't beat villians who cook and eat eyeballs!

You know it's funny, I've read all of Gaimans (sp?) books, but I've never cracked one of his comics. Definitely looking forward to seeing what they've done with it, heard the comic is pretty good.

I found one of the supposed screenplays for Sandman, and it sounded pretty trippy. Definatel kept me reading, and looking for it on the big screen.

Fantanstic Four - (eye candy)
Sin City--serious #1
Spiderman
Hellboy

Before I catch any slack on my decision-- Im a rather large fan of ms. alba--that should clear up any confusion. Any movie with Jessica Alba and Maria Menuonos defenitely gets a check mark from me.

Lastly...I hated unbreakable, as all of M. Nights movie.....started off great with six sense.....all down hill from there though----

Batman (1989), Blade (1st one), and Thundercats...oops, I haven't made that movie yet!

As I'm rewatching Superman Returns before having to return it, it suddenly dawned on me- The best Superhero movie, without a doubt, has to be Sandy Colera's Superman Vs Batman. It by far blows away anything these studios have put out, even after spending a gajillion dollars on Superman Returns. And he is a nobody. Not exactly true, he does effects in Hollywood, but he is not a big time Producer or Director, just a guy with the right idea.

Well, it's like this... right now the movie is playing, but I'm surfing. It isn't keeping me glued to my seat, and I miss bits of it. My wife hadn't seen it yet, and I'm catching the bits I missed the last time I watched it.

Aww, y'all are wrong about Superman Returns. I loved it, and am rivetted when I watch it! That and Batman Begins.
