Keeping images straight and neat!

I just got done a project where I needed to scale down some video clips to do a split screen or put 4 small clips on screen at once. Seems like if I need to stretch a clip via the Distort tool, my lines are somtimes jagged. I have to constantly make adjustments to have a perfect line or a perfect squared image that is scaled down of course. Would be better to create a matte then drop the video in there? I notice on the show "CSI Miami" they'll have several small clips all over the screen and they look nice and neat but sometimes mine are not as straight (the lines that is).

Double click your clip in the timeline to bring into the viewer> in the "viewer", click the "motion" tab> scale it down to size wanted, drag the center point where needed.

Then, if you want it to slowly scale down/position itself, use keyframe's.
