Waste of Money/QT MPEG-2 Playback

Well, I'm glad I just wasted $20 on the Quicktime MPEG-2 Playback option from the Apple store. It won't install on my computer, and everytime I've sent them a question they direct me to their public discussion forums for help. The forums have not given me a solution, and I'm starting to get frustrated. Curious if anyone else has had this problem?

I have it and it has installed fine on my PC-Windows box. What are your computer specs?

Give us more ddetails and we'll help. Don't bother asking apple for help. They only want your money and they already have that. You are dead to them now.

What exactly is the problem? What happens? And what are the steps you are following?

Haha. Yeah, I figured that was the case.

I have a 2.16 Macbook Pro, with 1 Gig of RAM. I downloaded the MPEG-2 Playback Component along with Quicktime Pro 7. For Quicktime Pro, all I had to do was enter in a registration number, and VOILA, I got QT Pro. For the MPEG-2 Playback, I have installation package on my desktop. MPEG-2Playback.pkg on my desktop, the little box icon yada yada yada.

I double click on the install package, go through all the usual steps, until I get to INSTALL. I click the install button, the blue bar appears (ala installing) for a second and then it disappears, and a message comes up within the Installation Window that says Installation Failed, try installing again later.

I've tried a few times, all with the same results.
