Shooting in studio with cello - lav. vs. boom

Hello dvx'er's - Spiral the trouble-maker here ...

I am shooting in studio with a Cellist and he will be both speaking and playing. Has anyone mic'd this sort of scenario - acoustic instrument with voice?

I am thinking - place a lavalier on the cello, and a boom on the artist.

Any thoughts or experience on the subject? :)

cardioid microphone . about i. 1. meter in front

boom from above pointed to the speaker

thats where the schoeps have extra value

lavalier on the cello - why ?

Thanks for the article Dan, and for the advice Oleg. The article is the most comprehensive I have seen on the subject. It states to use the Mic one foot from bridge; very helpful thank you! I will also try the boom suggestion, O, but I don't have a schoeps, so I suppose I'll suffer :-)

Use of a lavalier: The article backs this up in the use of all acoustic instruments for the reason of minimizing feedback and leakage, and allowing freedom of movement. We'll just give it try and see what happens...

Thanks again

you dont need schoeps ( i like its sound on acousic instruments) , the octava would be fine from the front
if you dont have other options , ill sudjest the boom mike from the front and the lavalier on the person you talk 2
