No playback for Uncompressed in QT?

Why can't Quicktime playback an Uncompressed 10 bit. video file I have? Am I missing something, or is there some additional software I need to install. It'll play the audio, just not the video.

Try another player. Mediaplayer Classic is good for playing different formats, it looks like old Win Mediaplayer but totally different thing and free of course..

Thanks for the suggestion, but the main reason I want to get it working with Quicktime is so for the export options. I just bought Quicktime Pro 7 and want to take advantage of the extra features.

Quicktime is buggy about reading file formats that aren't quicktime related. It has its own codec system for decoding files seperate from Direct Show (which is what all other media players in Windows use)

I wrote a tutorial about converting to Mpeg-4. Staxrip should support reading the Uncompressed file if its an AVI.

If it's a quicktime uncompressed file, you may not have enough ram, or a fast enough hard drive to play the file back. 10bit uncompressed HD is HUGE.

Yeah, I thought that the file size might be the problem. But that being the case, even though QT won't playback the video, can I still export the uncompressed file in QT to another file format?

You won't know untill you try.

True words of wisdom.

Sometimes we get a little ahead of ourselves with the questions and forget to just give it a go. Thanks demistate.
