Can I not export a 2 hour piece???

I know this is a stupid question, but I'm running the latest FCP (5.1.2) on a Quad G5.

I have been trying to export my 2 hour piece in the .avi format. Not for me. Another editor will be working on this 2 hour piece in a PC and asked for it in .avi

BUT, it always stops and gives the prompt "file too big." I tried it for a quicktime also, and the same thing.

I have set the settings to export in the highest quality of DV. I have a 250GB hardrive and a 300GB hardrive. There should be PLENTY of room to make the file. What am I doing wrong?

Is there some way that I need to defrag my hardrive or do some kind of software hardrive maintainence? Let me know, thanks!

Hm... Couple of ways to address this...

1. What is your HD formatted as?
If you're delivering to a PC, I Guess FAT 32. Than you'll have a 2gb limit.

2. Why would you like to export 2 hours in one piece?
I cannot really see any rationale behind this.
My guess is that there is at least a couple of clean cuts within the 2 hours. Why not just break it up?

3. Like QT, AVI is not a format, but a container. Why not just export as a DV stream (.dv extension), readable from both Win and OSX.

4. Which NLE is your editor on?

sorta...
