Help put Jack's Short Shed and On National TV!

I thought our poll went down on Sundance on the Sat night. Is that wrong? Did it go down Sunday?

But you know the worst part of that is...soon BLOODY MARY will no longer be featured on the home page of Sci-Fi Channel...:(

You are probably right. I thought it was up for a full week (which it isn't anyway).
I just knew that it went down earlier (I thought Sunday night) on Sundance, and that it lingered through all day frickin' Monday on the Sci Fi channell site.

thanks for the bump earlier BTW, means a lot comming from a competitive bastard like you ... I mean coming from you

Yeah that sucks.

(Mark's film is featured in the same window with Battlestar BTS and Edward James Olmos's mug and some other stuff like that.)

But you atre gonna be on frickin' TV dude -- so boo hoo :crybaby:

Aw that's okay. I wrote a program that votes for all of the other entries about 10 times a day, just to mess you up. :)

I hate to spoil a good thing, but us mods have been a little lax about this lately. I'll let an old thread by Hudson remind you all of our policy on contests.

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=37332&highlight=apple+dumpling

It's not fair when people ask for votes on DVXfests, and it's not fair for external contests either. If you want to let people know about contests you're in, that's fair, but let people make their own decision on who to vote for. We have a couple DVXusers like Jack, Mark, and Aram in the same contests and it seems unfair to ask people to vote for one instead of letting them choose.

Jack, feel free to rewrite your initial post to take out the direct ask for votes and I'll let the thread ride. And Jack, your work is good enough where if you just mention that you're in a contest people will rally and support without needing to be asked.

...the echo of the hand slap continues to reverberate down the Cafe hallway...

the frickin' "needs more cowbell" line in Deja Vu was HILARIOUS jack. i know you talked scott into that! great scene with you btw, and please dont take this wrong but you KNOW you so should have had that appearance and line cut man, it made me laugh to see it. im so proud of you though! and jealous.

hopefully "the Week of Jack" continues on with this contest's results...

Sir Isaac,

I respectfully disagree and I don't think you are fully informed on this contest and the impact this does or doesn't have on Aram and Mark, which is absolutely zero.

If they are going to set up their contest as popularity contest, I can compete on those terms or I can sit back and watch some other guy's movie in a couple of months on TV.

The Sundance site has said for the last five weeks and will say again this week "Comeback and Vote again tomorrow".
It keeps your I.P. address for one day and puts a green check next to the film you voted for and then the next day the check is clear and you vote again. What else can one make of a contest which invites the individual to vote multiple times.

I 100% agree with you for DVXuser Fests and I would be the 1st person to nail someone to the cross that did that here.

But traffic driven contests which make no rules about directing others there to view or JUST vote are not the same as DVXuser Fests.

I also think this is a matter of personal choice for people that read this thread.

I would love for them to view all the films and make an honest choice, but if someone doesn't have the time to do that I have zero problems with them single clicking a vote in, in a contest that's set up for that very thing.

The problem with Hudson's thoughts from the other thread...

...Be a man and let your work speak for itself...
The Management
...is that none of the "men" in this particular contest are assuming the level playing field he is. The LEVEL playing field in this contest is - Everyone go and get as many votes as you can.

I choose to "be a man" and take responsibility for getting as many votes as I can within the rules of their contest. Not doing so would not be consistent with someone who claims they want a career as a flimmaker.

As for fairness to Mark and Aram they sent out mass emails asking people to vote and I know Mark's asked for votes. Basically all of the women at Sara Laurence voted for him.

This also has no impact on them as Mark is already voted on the TV show from his heat last week and Aram unfortunately is already voted out.

But I will change the opening post out of personal deference to you whom I have a great deal of respect for even though I couldn't possibly disagree more on this topic, and to not encourage vote begging by others in contests where it wouldn't be appropriate. And also because it's pretty much a moot point at this juncture, as only the Sci Fi site is up at this point.

Thanks Isaac,

Jack

Jack, with respect (and now I'm motivated to go see Deja Vu) . . .

We've got the "no vote begging" rule for a reason; we can't really go and look at the individual rules for every contest -- it would take too much time, and it would appear as though we're enforcing the rule inconsistently and cause bad blood.

I know everyone wants you to win. We've got no problem with you announcing you're up for this without the vote beg, and I'm sure everyone interested will figure out they can vote as many times as they want on their own.

Again, everyone respects your talent and wants you to go far. And enforcing the rules is not a very fun job.

heheh, Mark you knucklehead! Let's not go overboard :)

I 100% hear that and appreciate it.

And I meant no disrespect to Sir Isaac. Seriously - there are very few people out there I have more respect for if any. He's like the Fonz to me.

that and he was cool enough to come up to us and say hi after Horrofest at 4am drunk, in the Waverly.....

I didn't.

I sent every film I made for DVXuser reedited where necessary for TV including Rekinlded.

I sent them all a day apart, but they all arrived in time for this week so either ...
A) they didn't like the rest of my movies :crybaby:
B) they decided one film per filmmaker (though there is no official rule on this) and Shed came in first
C) they are waiting to see if Shed stays in or not before entering my other films to avoid more than one film by the same filmmaker in the finals
D) I annoyed them with my phonecalls about Shed playing in the wrong aspect ratio.
E) I know they got delluged with films the last week when I sent all of mine so they aren't to them yet.
F) A combination of "A" and "D" :crybaby: :crybaby:
