Hi Guys,

I have Sony DCR-PC1000e and i've got the following tools:

Adobe Premiere Pro v2.0
canopus Procoder v2.0

Running on a Win XP platform, I just want to know what's the best way to create more like hollywood film's colour and smooth motion?

I know Premiere Pro - provide capture but still i would like to know if there any other Dv Capture (firewire) application which will record at the heighest quality?

How can i make smooth motion from my cam by doing post production? 24p/25p?

If you're in Europe and shooting PAL, use the 25p preset. Trying to convert to 24p is just going to mess things up.

If it's miniDV, your capture program doesn't matter. It's all digital, coming in over firewire, so the program you use doesn't matter.

As for colour, that's dependent on your lighting, your camera, and colour correction you add on in post (Premiere has some decent offerings in this area)

I'm not familiar with Procoder though.

Hi overnighttolondon,

Thanks for reply, when I capture from miniDV to comp - should I use "25p template" in Premiere Pro -

Does that means it will convert into 25p while doing DV capture?

Capturing makes no changes to the video.
If you have a European camera (you seem to), then you're footage is already in 50i or 25p (which is actually just 50i, but with two fields shot together, every 1/25sec).
Technically, you could capture with any template, make a new project with the 25p template, and import those captured files.
But yes, you want to work (capture and edit) in a 25p template.

H there,

I'm just wondering what kind of fps do i get especially when recording from "DV capture" - Premiere Pro v2.0

Hey Ferdi Willemse - i dont mind for the slight hijack, you are welcome to say anything :D in here

Ferdi, 25P is gives the same filmic look as 24p.

Fireduck, I think you're cam only shoots 50i. A Program like Magic Bullet for After Effects can turn your 50i footage into 25p. There are other alternative programs as well but I'm not familiar with them. Maybe some PAL users will chime in.
