Opinions on my new trailer

Looks ok to me, though it's hard to know not being fluent in spanish. It went well with the floyd I was listening to:) I liked the visuals, smart stuff. Good luck with it.
Cheers

Sure,

I started writing the script in 2001 - as planned to be, a very very low budget foreign independent film. We shot it in the Dominican Republic in 2003 and have been working on it ever since. I also, directed, edited and produced it.

It's has actually been well accepted and we've been fortunate to go to a few film festivals. I was also the director of photography, art director and did most of the sound design. Obviously and because of the budget I've had to learn [and do] a lot of the things that other people do.

I shot it with a Digital8/MiniDV consumer cam. Color corrected and made it look a little more 'filmic' in post.

Now I'm getting ready to launch the DVD (which I'm also producing) and writing the next film.

This is the website for the film. www.LaCortinaDelPalacio.com

Thank you all for watching.

Pretty nice trailer, nice little twist at the end-a little creepy how it came out of nowhere. I used to spend summers in DR and would get creeped out by some of the ghost stories I would hear. I'm Dominican as well and it is nice to see other Dominican filmmakers out there. Keep up the good work.

Nothing is scarier than that chicken that tried to kill you in the DR.

There was a chicken that tried to kill G-man?!?!? hmmmmm... interesting :) You must tell.

Yeah I grew up with many of those scary stories. And if they were told by older local country peoples, they were even scarier.

P.S.
I had completely forgot that for someone who's never seen the trailer, [the creepy end] does come out of 'nowhere'. I'm imune to it :) so it's nice to hear.

Thanks,

I watched your trailer with great interest and with much admiration. Though my Spanish is "shaky' at best it did not prevent me from enjoying the images and attemting to follow the story line. You are to be applauded for your determination and courage in following through where many people would have abandoned the project. I sinceley wish you all the best in your future films and look forward to spending my 15 bucks at the box office one day to see one of your next films on the big screen.

Only the G-Man can tell it properly. And even then it is best for him to tell it in person! :)

Gracias por tus comentarios. Tienes razon no hubieron filtros y ese tipo de cositas. Pero nada, asi a la 'mala' se aprende mucho! De nuevo, gracias.
(eng) Thanks for your comments. You're right about the filters and such. They never existed. But you do learn a lot when you have to practically do or make everything yourself. So I guess it's allll good.

Thanks for your kind words Brian. It's always good to hear them after such a long time working on something. Now I have to put on my 'negocios' hat and see how I can get this DVD out. Hey, maybe I'll include an English audio comentary bonus in there. (If it fits on the DVD - there's allready a Spanish audio-commentary)

Again, thanks for watching and commenting. And hey, if my films dont ever make it to the big screen, at least I'll always be able to say that I gave it my best shot.

:)

Thanks for bringing that traumatic experience back up D-C!! ;-)

When I was a child I got into a fight with a chicken in the DR. It was a brief but brutal confrontation, however, I think we both walked away with mutual respect for one another.

D-C is right, though...I can't really do the story justice in the written form...it must be told in person...so you can get the full effect.

LOL... lol ...lol...

I think I can imagine both, human and animal just walking away from each other and looking back....

respect for the chicken... respect.

:)

Too funny.

Rumor has it that G-man has actually written a short story about that chicken experience. Perhaps a link to it will surface on here. :)

Hey Cineasta Dom,

So I was surfing the web-for Dominican films and I came across your flick again--what's the status on the DVD's?

I think the biggest Domincan film to come out of DR recently seems to be "Andrea". I'm going to try to get the dvd when it becomes available.

I want to make good films with Domincan themes. I've seen a lot of Dominican films which have been less than stellar. Films like the "Nueba Yol" series, and "El Circulo Vicioso" have disappointed me. If you know of any good ones, let me know. There's a PBS film called "The Suitor" which is based on a book by Julia Alvarez which is pretty decent. I don't know how many actual Dominicans are in the film tho.

DC,

I think I want to make a short film about the chicken experience. I don't know if it should be animated or live-action (cgi chicken?). Anyways, we'll see how it comes together.

ellos necessitan hablar mas despacio porque no entiendo mucho. puedo decir, "donde esta el bano", y "este pelicula es como un burrito grande". es todo.
