reducing handling /wire handling noise on an oktava?

I recently got an oktava, and while i'm ecstatic about the sound quality (thanks Matt), I, like many others, have found it pretty sensitive to handling noise. This is solved w/ a shockmount but i find that when mounted on-camera, if i brush up against the wire, it picks up that noise quite readily .. what i do is clip the wire into the piece of the shockmount that comes w/ the dvx (the wire clip part) and then run it to my hot-shoe shockmount. this reduces the shock to half the cable but tehre's still the part that runs directly to the mic.. it's easy to brush up against that ones if holding the camera by the top handle ..
solutions?

90 degree connector at the mic...

If you really want to be sure then get a cloth mic cable.

Best solution is to route the cable so that you don't rub it and then be aware.

I've been shooting for the last 3 months with a totally new batch of mics... not to mention using my own for years. I no longer think the Oktava is especially sensitive to handling noise. The CS3e that I've been using lets me know when I move a finger... even on my graphite K-Tek. Wanna' know what my solution was? I no longer move a finger during the take.

I went to the doctor today and said, "Doctor, it hurts when I move my arm" and the doctor said, "Then don't move your arm."

"be aware" .. but i was looking for a solution that woudl require minimal effort and self-awareness :)

Well, that's easy; remove the Oktava, switch over to the DVX's internal mics and take off your headphones. :)

Hehe, I am being such a smartass this morning. Stop me before I quip again!!

(One more venti latte and I will be normal again)
