...and now slutting her way across the screen, why it's...

I was off work sick for a few days (the toilet has taken a restraining order out on me) and I had the chance to watch some TV. It's a rare occurance, you see. Even though I've watched a few episodes of Jerry Springer, I couldn't prepare myself for this.

Bridezillas and MTV's My Sweet Sixteen.

Two shows that centre on the bitchiest, most spoiled whores and whore-ettes who believe that they are, in fact, the exact centre of the universe. They demand that hundreds of thousands be spent in their honour, and make the lives of everyone around them a living hell in the process. Entertaining, in a shudder inducing, "the human race isn't evolving anymore" kind of way.

My question: How do the producers headhunt these awful people?

Aren't they already aware (and ashamed of) just how vapid they are? And wouldn't that make them run far, far away from the cameras? The evidence, of course, says no. Just how do these people get put into the public eye in the first place?

They make interesting viewing, the public don't really want to watch a show about educated well adjusted people :)
It's the era of car-crash T.V.

I've never seen either of those shows, and thank you for giving warning in case my better senses leave me while the remote is in my hand.

Producers encourage their subjects on those shows to be as over-the-top as possible, in the interest of 'good tv' - meaning anything and everything that keeps the viewer on a given channel long enough to view some commercials.

Like all bad behavior, it exists because it is tolerated.
