I agree that Michael Bay films are well-shot. I like lots of camera movement, and the camera is hardly ever still in his movies.

thx 1138
The PRofessional
Fifth Element ( although this is maybe less cinematography more Art direction)
Barry lyndon
2001 space odyssey
Apocalypse now
lessons of Darkness
FITZCARRALDO
blade runner

The Cranes Are Flying, a Russian film is one of the most beautiful ever shot. And then there's I am Cuba (especially that crane shot out of the window, which nobody can figure out how it's done)

Why not more Conrad Hall love? I think I counted one for him (Road to Perdition).

What about Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid?????

(and personally, Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas are two of my favorite movies of all time, but not really the best shot -- there is some crude lighting in both and in PF, you can see the steadi-cam op's shadow in the drug den).

Saving Private Ryan
Amelie
The Godfather
Alien(Space Noir?)
Man on Fire
Casablanca(something makes me love this film)
Pulp Fiction
Gladiator(I was tempted to put Ben Hur here)
Silence of the Lambs
8 1/2
12 Angry Men
