I need to know if I capture some footage with ppro1.5 and export it to dvd as an avi if fcp can use that file to edit and not have to capture.

can anyone help and guide me in the best way to export so that fcp can just drag and drop the file into the 24p timeline

thanks,
Jason

Depends what you're shooting on.

If it's DV, make a DV-file.

DVCPRO 50 or HD won't make it.

I know a number of editors that capture with PPro and cut on Avid as they really like the scene detect and single pass speed of PPro's capture routine.

so i am shooting on a dvx100a. 24pn and i just want it to be compatible with fcp so how should i export it to put on dvd.

i just shot and captured some footage of Red stuff into premier pro 2.0.

it saves it as AVI. And i tried importing that into Final Cut pro 5.1.2.

THE REDS ARE NICE lol. anywho. But the footage looks slightly interlaced now. Im thinking that macs dont like AVI that much.

What is the best way to convert your captured AVI to MOV without screwing with the quality?

Does FCP allow you to deinterlace the footage when importing a file or only during ingest?

How did you save your .avi file, specifically how was the cadence output (2:3 or 2:3:3:2)?

If the pulldown isn't removed, you may have to reverse telecine the files using Cinema Tools.
