What your thoughts on Micheal Bay?

Oh and Pearl Harbor sucked.
Pearl Harbor sucked so bad, there's even a song about how bad it sucked...

The trailer was damn good, though.

I'm actually kind of puzzled, how 'Island' ripped off 'Matrix,' 'Logan's Run' and 'THX-1138...'

Ever read the original novel that 'Logan's Run' is based on...well, inspired by...well, they used the same title. A couple years ago I had a meeting for the new 'Logan's Run' feature, since back-burnered, which alas had precious little to do with the source material, either. Which is too bad; the novel is f'ing brilliant.

Honestly, I liked Pearl Harbour's 15 minute attack scene. It looked fantastic and exciting. As for the movie's story and plot, not at all impressive.

Day after Tomorrow was okayish. Watchable popcorn movie.

Alien VS Predator was terrible. I don't know which one was worse, honeslty: Freddy VS Jason or Alien VS Predator.

I'm still to see the Island- sounds promising, but never got the urge to get it on DVD.

Transformers- bad Idea, in my book.

He's probably the best personification of a cliché Hollywood Summer Production: Lots of explosions, action, grandeur and huge production values, but with passable content that you just forget the minute you leave the cinema.

He's an Art Center grad, which in my book, is a pretty awesome credential. I did a shoot with him once. He likes Jack-in-the-Box, and is a good sport.

'Day After Tomorrow' was directed by Roland Emmerich.

Rezfactor: you're a lucky guy. Of the near-endless stream of adjectives I (and my crewmates) would use to describe Michael Bay, 'good sport' is nowhere near being on the list...

Listen, I can't stand Michael Bay films either, but I will say this, when I sit down to watch one I know exactly what I'm getting. So he delivers on my expectations. Fun background movies to watch with friends while drinking. We just do a little Mystery Science Theater 3000 action on them and laugh at the utter absurdity that is a Michael Bay film.

I will give props to his crew. They pull off some amazing camera work/stunts/etc.

However, Pearl Harbor was just egregiously bad and tasteless. The story of what happened at Pearl Harbor should've been handled much more delicately and artistically. It was disrespectful if you ask me.

I agree. Before it came out I thought "Oh, no. Michael Bay is handling "Pearl Harbor"? That's not a good idea."

I haven't seen "Flags of Our Fathers" yet, but I had the exact opposite reaction when I heard it was a Clint Eastwood film.

Ha ha....
I kinda feel a lil embarassed to admit this, but I am actually in pearl habor--Im one of the service men during the explosion that is running. Nothing special, but I made 800 for the day, so I wont complain---

Either way, my initial question was geared strictly toward his use of false colors whether it is from CC or filters etc...

I harbor no ill will towards micheal bay in terms of directing. For me, when I watch any of his movies, Im looking to see a few explosions- a car chase-and ALOT of bullets. Depending on my mood, Im all in for the ride of a bad boys or whatever.

But most importantly (to me anyhow) Micheal Bay makes movies---I am on a web forum talking about his work, hes sitting in Hollywood and has NO IDEA who I am...
To that---his work is doing its job. Selling tickets, and making movies---which at the end of the day really matters. There has to be the blockbusters to fund the art movies afterall...

The explosions didn't kill ya, but the embarrassment of being associated with that film just might?

True. I have plenty of friends who aren't "film people" who wouldn't know who Michael Bay is or what our general thoughts are on his movies, and love watching them.

It's all about your audience, and Michael Bay has a pretty large audience that he delivers to.

That being said, the movies suck.

Hell nah....for 800 bucks back 5 or so years ago, I wouldve done any movie that came my way! Hell for 800 bucks when I was in college I wasnt going to discriminate---

I was just embarrased about the fact all of the hatred towards micheal bay...

For me I admire the guy-- He makes movies...now he's producing movies---
I at some point will "hopefully" direct a movie for him.....at least there will be a fat budget I get to work with. Like him or hate him---we all know who he is. I dont think anyone can say they didnt find entertainment of some sort in the original bad boys.

I mean its no moving work of art like street car named desire or anything, but its a great time killer on a vacation day on usa or whatever....which Im sure nets him about 10K a pop or something ridiculous....

:beer:to making movies the way that you want to (basically a music video) and continuing to make em, and profit off them......

You admire him because you have never had to work with him.

Or be within 200 feet of him while he's working, I'm guessing...

Man. I'd never thought I'd see the day this topic would come up. I was just skimming through the index to another forum. And I seen it cut off at Michael. So I had to click. Knowing It would be Michael Bay.

But personally. I think he's great. I really do not see a problem with this guys films. Whats so bad about him. 100% Pure Something or other.

Sad Max, please, go on. I've seen 2 posts from you regarding working with Michael Bay. What is he really like to work with? I'm really curious. What was your experience with Bay? Or what were you observations?

Screaming. Cursing. Insisting that trained and experienced professionals set things up "his way," after it's explained why it won't work, then $$$ is expended on setting it up anyway, then it's everyone *else's* fault that it didn't work.

Etcetera

Etcetera

Etcetera

Of course, I've only been on one of his crews. But everyone else I know who's worked on his projects, has much the same to say.

Rumour on IMDB that Sean Connery pulled over some of the crew and bad mouthed MB in The Rock. Like I said, I highly doubt that. But what film did you work with him on anyway?

Alright, yeah, only a punk brings it up, and then doesn't back it up...

...I was on 'The Island.' Remember the scene where Michael Clark Duncan comes out of the anaesthesia, jumps up, and runs off down the hall with the busted-off robot surgical arms sticking out of him? I was with the robot-arm crew.
